Chapter Twelve: The XYZ Effect

"Alright I will show you face to face. Since nobody is around we will have a duel!" Yuma says.

Yuma throws a piece of tech in front of his eye and activates his duel disk.

"Ready!" He says.

"Yugi you want in?" Jaden asks.

"I'll sit this one, Ill observe." 

DUEL POV

Jaden: (4000 LP)

Yuma: I still can't comprehend how you guys can see the duel and outside it. (4000 LP)

Jaden: Same here.

Yuma: Well it's your turn, Ill let you go.

Jaden: (Draw) I start by summoning Elemental Hero Clayman in defense! (Def: 2000)

Yuma: Is that all?

Jaden: Na, Ill throw two facedowns as well.

Yuma: (Draw) I'm feelin, the flow! I summon Goblinberg! This monster allows me to then summon Gogogo Golem. Don't worry cause now I will overlay both my monsters to build the overlay network. I XYZ summon Number 39: Utopia! (Atk: 2500) (OLU: 2) 

Jaden: He got a XYZ out on turn one.

Yuma: Attack his Clayman!

Jaden: I activate the trap Hero Signal. After Clayman's destruction I can now summon a new Elemental Hero from the deck! I special summon Elemental Hero Woodsman! (Atk: 1000) 

Yuma: I end.

Jaden: (Draw) I activate the effect of Woodsman, now I can add Polymerization to my hand. I now activate it to fuse Woodman and Elemental Hero Wildheart in my hand to Fusion summon Elemental Hero Gaia! (Atk: 2200) 

Yuma: A fusion summon? They teach it in class but I've never seen one before. They say it was an old summoning method.

Jaden: Well check this Yuma, Gaia allows me to drain half of your Utopia's attack power and add it to his!

Yuma: (Atk: 1250)

Jaden: (Atk: 3450) Now Gaia attack Utopia!

Yuma: I activate his special ability! By removing one overlay unit I can stop this attack!

Jaden: Alright. I end my turn.

Yugi: This is really intriguing Pharaoh, I feel like we're somewhere completely different, not even close to home.

Atem: It is strange but I believe soon we will find answers with Eto when we rescue him from Vex.

Yugi: I hope so.

Yuma: It's time for the ultimate showing. (Draw) I activate the spell Rank-Up Magic Astral Force!

Jaden: What's that?

Yuma: This ranks up Utopia into a new XYZ monster, see XYZ monsters don't have levels but they have ranks.

Jaden: So you get to summon a new one?

Yuma: Yep, I rebuild the overlay network with Utopia to XYZ summon Chaos Number 39: Utopia Ray V! (Atk: 2600) (OLU : 2) 

Jaden: Whoa.

Yuma: Alright I use Utopia Ray V's special ability! When I remove an overlay unit I can destroy your monster and deal you damage equal to it's attack strength.

Jaden: Not good!!

Yuma: Destroy Gaia!

Jaden: AGH!!! (350 LP) 

Yuma: Alright Utopia Ray V attack Jaden directly!

Jaden: I dont think so! I activate the trap Elemental Mirage! This allows me to bring back any Heroes that were destroyed in battle. Come back Gaia! (Atk: 2200) 

Yuma: You'll still take 400 LP of damage.

Jaden: Gaia's ability re-activates! (Atk: 3500)

Yuma: (Atk: 1300)

Jaden: Let him have it!

Yuma: Agh! (1700 LP)

Jaden: It's my turn. (Draw) These XYZ cards are impressive but it won't stop me! I activate the spell The Warrior Returning Alive to bring Woodsman to my hand. I now activate the spell Polymerization to fuse Woodsman and Ocean in my hand!

Yuma: Another Fusion summon.

Jaden: Come out Elemental HERO Terra Firma! (Atk: 2500) 

Yuma: Well Gaia's ability wore off so both our monsters are back to their original strength. (Atk: 2600)

Jaden: (Atk: 2200) That's fine because Terra Firma can absorb all those attack points of Gaia.

Yuma: But how?

Jaden: Terra Firma's ability allows him to absorb as many heroes as I want. (Atk: 4700) Alright Terra Firma, attack Yuma directly!

Yuma: Agh! (0 LP) 

Jaden = Win

"That was a nice duel Yuma, those XYZ cards are no joke." Jaden says.

"Neither are those Fusions." Yuma says.

"Jaden it's getting dark we need to find shelter." Yugi says.

"Hey, lemme take you to my home!" Yuma offers.
