Jungkook sat alone in his hospital bed. Yellow and blue lights flashed from monitors surronding the room. Soft beeps and squeaks were heard occasionally. He had just been admitted overnight for abrupt vision impairment.
When you go to bed with 20/50 vision and wake up with 20/70, you know there's a problem.
He was now waiting patiently for his doctor to come back with Beta blockers, his eye drops. These reduce the production of fluid in the eyes, thereby lowering the pressure in your eye.
Jungkook was currently experiencing early stages of Glaucoma at only seventeen-years-old. Or at least, that's what Dr. Kim had diagnosed him with. Glaucoma is an eye disease that can potentially blind you. This is because the nerve connecting the eye to the brain is damaged, usually due to high eye pressure.
Over the past couple of months, Jungkook's vision has steadily worsened. He even had to purchase perscription glasses for the first time in his entire life because it became too difficult for him to read. And to think that he used to have 20/20 vision.
"Jeon Jungkook?" an unfamiliar soft voice was heard from the far left of the small hospital room.
The blurry-eyed boy turned his head towards the sound, eyebrows knitting together in thought. That man wasn't his doctor.
"Who are you?"
The black-haired boy approached his bed almost timidly, smiling sheepishy as he offered a small white bottle to Jungkook, which the boy took readily.
"I'm Doctor Kim's new intern," the boy then proceeded to bow, jet-black hair falling into his face as he stood up straight again.
He was effortlessly beautiful.
Those honey-colored eyes were what caught Jungkook off guard.
"And your name?"
"Park Jimin," the intern flashed perfect white teeth, plump lips stretching into a radiant smile.
This boy looked like sunshine.
Jungkook nodded thoughtfully, rubbing the blue label of the white bottle with his thumb to distract himself from the man's beauty.
Park Jimin.
"You have glaucoma?" Jimin's eyes softened once speaking of Jungkook's blurry-eyed state.
"How'd you know?"
"I read your file," sunshine-boy's cheeks tinted pink.
"Unfortunatley, I do have glaucoma" the patient laughed, flipping the cap of the eye drops open.
"How bad is your vision?"
"Twenty-seventy," he squeezed the white bottle slightly as he leant his head back, alowing small transparent drops to fall into each of his eyes.
"Could your vision get worse?"
"There's a pretty good chance I'll be going blind soon," Jungkook snapped the top of the bottle shut, placing it on the side table next to his hospital bed.
"Gosh, that's terrible."
There was a momentary breathless pause before decided to Jimin speak up again.
"Is there anything that you've wanted to see that you haven't?"
Jungkook's eyebrows raised in intrest.
"Well I haven't seen any other countries," Jungkook laughed sadly, his parents had never let him leave South Korea.
"Anything meaningful to you?" Jimin sat next to Jungkook on his bed, smirking as he saw the young boy's eyes widen at the action.
"I'll never get to see the person I marry."
"I felt my heart strings tug at that one, Jeon Jungkook," Park Jimin raked his jet-black hair back with his petite hand, honey brown orbs disappearing underneath his eye lids.
"How long are you interning for?"
"As long as Doctor Kim will have me. Which reminds me," Jimin stood up, much to Jungkook's dissappointment, "I have to continue working."
His bed felt cold now.
The tension was heavy inside the small hospital room.
"Are you here overnight?"
"I am."
"Can I come see you again?" Jimin lingered at the door of Jungkook's room, teeth tugging at his bottom lip in nervousness.
"I would like that."
And Jungkook couldn't help but long for Park Jimin when he smiled with sunshine in his eyes as he turned around and walked out of the small hospital room.
end.
(this is a new book, hope it's alright so far)
