"So, where are you guys planning to spend your summer?" I asked.

Today's our last day in school, as high school students. Two months from now, we'll be college students which means we'll be choosing different paths and seeing each other less.

"I'm not really sure. Though, I badly need a vacation! This school year gave me too much stress!" Anne, one of my best friends exclaimed.

"Hmm.. How about a vacation? Next to the beach? What do you guys think?" Kay suggested.

A day in a beach doesn't sound too bad.

"Well, I'm in. I just have to ask my mom about it. And, I remember, she texted me asking me to go home so.. I'll see you soon?" I blew them a kiss before getting my bag and left the school.

Riding a taxi, I read the text message my mom just sent me awhile ago. I sighed.

Mom:

Adi, baby. Can you please go home a bit earlier? I have something important to ask you. It's about your dad, please? Just a tiny favor..

I deleted the text right after reading it. No. No matter what the favor is, no matter how little it is, I would never do it if it has something to do with the old man. The thought of hurting my mother because of this rebellion inside of me hurts me. I've always loved my mom. She's my everything, my strength, my weakness and the person I look up to. She's the only person who's been there for me since I was a kid.

As a kid, I grew up without a father. Mother said that right after she gave birth to me, he left her with only a bag of money. Just that. He impregnated my mother just to leave her. I remember those nights when I hear my mother cry herself to sleep because daddy never came back. And I have always hated him for that. I hated him for leaving my mother and I. He sends us money though, always, but money isn't everything. As a kid, I have always wished to have a father and I envy my classmates who has a complete family every family day.

I am Adrianna Angelie Perez Blake. My mother is a Filipina and my father is British, making me half-pinay half british. I was born and raised in the Philippines while my british father got married to a canadian woman and ended up living there. Because of my mother's nationality, I have a tanned complexion, and jet black eyes. The only thing I got from my father is my narrowed nose and lips.

"We're here, ma'am." The driver said after he parked in front of our house. After paying, I immediately went inside the house only to be greeted by my mother sitting in our sofa, with a serious face.

"Hi, mom. What's with the face?" I asked, after giving her a kiss on the cheek.

"Hey, love." She smiled a bit. "It's about your dad.." She trailed off.

"And?"

"She wants you to spend your summer with him. In canada."

Those last words made me stop. Canada? With him? No!

But I've never been there. It must be nice in there? No!!

"No."

"Come on, love. Give it a try. Give your dad a chance, please?" Mom says, trying to persuade me. It's not like she could pursue me though.

"No."

"Adi. Please? Just.. Give it a try?" I stared at her, surprised how much effort she's putting in just to convince me. Her eyes are also welling up with tears, it made my heart ache.

"Mom, I told you. I don't want to, okay?" I said with finality. "Why are you even pushing me to do it? Tsk. He left us and he's happy there with his new fam--"

"He's dying." She cut off.

Right at that moment, I made the most impulsive yet realest decision in my life. I left the Philippines to spend my summer with my dad. In canada.

Hello! I am new to this and to be quite honest, I made this because I am so bored and I don't know how to spend my summer. So I think this is a great way.

To the readers (is there even one? Lol) i am so sorry if you find this one boring. I promise to make the following chapters as interesting as possible. After all, this is only the prologue.
