A girl walks along the pavement, bright yellow sweater, Rounded glasses, struggling to walk with the weight of the books she carry's and stopping every now and then to adjust her hold on said books. The Sounds of her feet thumping on the solid concrete, it almost covers how loud her heart was beating. Nervous was not the right word for how she is feeling.
"Get a grip!" her thoughts yell at her. Her head lifts a bit as well as her body which had straightened up. A quick glance at her hand and she knows she's in the right place and a sharp right is made.
She quietly walks up the stone steps and faces a wooden door. She places the books down and forms a fist, but just before she knocks a small piece of paper catches her eye.
"Gone Out wont b bk till tomorrow, Dnt wait up! Keys under mat" -Casey xxxx
"Nice introduction" She mumbles as she unlocks the door and walks into the place she is going to have call home.
As She walked in she already knew one thing about her new flatmate without even meeting her.
She is extremely messy
Her attention is caught by yet another letter.
In big uneven letters the name Missy. "She does know that's not my name, I mean surely?" her thoughts already criticising. She picked up the note and mumbled out the words.
Hey Missy (Is alright if I call you Missy?)
"It's not, my name is Melissa"
I'll be out quite a lot but you can just make yourself comfortable and get all moved in, your bedroom is the one on the left and ill see you tomorrow! Casey xxxx
Melissa smirked at the enthusiasm that Casey obviously has. She lifts up the books and makes her way up to her new bedroom.
It's not much to look at, there's you're basics bed, drawers, selves. "It's not much but it's all I need" She sets up her books smiling as she sees some old favourites.
She looks around and frowns "This is a stupid bedroom layout".
Melissa then spent the next hour Rearranging her room. By the end of it, she was red in the face and exhausted. She lifted up her arm and took a quick smell. "...shower".
The shower was small and cramped but it did its job so she couldn't really complain. The Feeling of hot water helped her small frame to relax, something it rarely does. She slowly got out of the shower, the reality of how tired she really was sunk in.
As she crawled into bed she felt as if everything was going to work out. Maybe she wasn't doing too bad.
4 hours later
Melissa has always been a deep sleeper but the sound of a door slamming followed by a chain of profanity's caused her to jolt awake. She looked to the side and groans at the time. Grabbing her glasses and shaking her head in an attempt to become more awake, she cautiously made her way downstairs.
She shook her head at the muddy footprints leading to the kitchen, too tired to notice the red shine to them.
"Fantastic" she muttered and shoved her hands in her pyjama pockets in a quick wave of frustration washs over her.
She peered into the kitchen and was greeted with the back of a full head of fiery ginger hair bent under the kitchen sink. She was also covered in mud.
Melissa watched, intrigued as to what the strange girl, who was also her flatmate, was doing.
The redheaded girl eventually stood up and turned around, then proceeded to swear in surprise.
"SHIT!" grabbing her chest, presumably where she thought her heart was, She was wrong.
"Lovely" the sarcasm in Melissa's tone was blatant and curt. She was tired and annoyed and wanted to get back to sleep.
"You scared me!" the redhead exclaimed while picking up the bottle of bleach she had dropped in her startled state.
Melissa rolled her eyes, already being done with her newly acquired flatmate. "well, I am naturally terrifying...I'm assuming you're Casey".
"If I wasn't this would be a totally different situation" Casey chuckled presenting two dimples, seeming very proud for noticing the obvious.
"Right," Melissa said through gritted teeth.
"Not much of a talker huh?" Casey teased playfully, looking Melissa up and down smirking at the blank look Melissa had.
"Not at 3 am, I'm not" Melissa grumbled still unimpressed at her flatmates' behaviour. A quick look of realisation crossed Casey's face.
"Oh fuck I woke you up didn't I?, sorry I'm not used to other people in the house" She offered a sheepish smile of apology.
Melissa's annoyance quickly dissipated and she sighed softly "It's alright and if you have no objections I'm going to head back up to bed"
"Yeah yeah sure"
And with that Melissa was off quicker than she came. Halfway up the stairs, Casey yelled up at her wishing her a good night, this time with no interruptions. She called her Missy again but being too tired to correct her she just shook her head in slight amusement.
Casey listened patiently until she heard the faint click of the closing of Missy's bedroom door and let out a light chuckle. shes quite cute. Casey stopped smiling and caught the thought. I think the fuck not!
She turned back and picked up the bottle of bleach and took her shoes off, frowning when she saw her big toe poking out of her socks.
She huffed and slowly made her way upstairs, making sure she made as minimal noise needed in an attempt not to wake Missy.
She turned on the shower and took off the bleach bottle lid, it took a few attempts. Mainly because she was twisting it the wrong way.
After an 8 minute struggle, it finally gave way and a small yelp of joy escaped her lips. She covered the boots in the strong smelling liquid and watched as the mud ran down the drain. she repeated the process a couple of times. He eyes welling up every now and again because of the fumes.
The boots now smelled horrid but no one was going to know that they once had blood on them.
Casey smiled
"Perfect"
