(week and a half later)
Finn and I hadn't talked much, and in fact we were mostly focusing on our school work since it was our junior year and we wanted to make the most of it. All of my friends hadn't really been talking, we just had been sitting together at lunch.
We were all (Noah, Gaten, Finn, Sadie, Grace, Caleb, Maddie, Sophie and I) in the cafeteria for lunch, instead of sitting outside like we usually did we decided to sit inside because it had started to get cold.
"You okay sads? You were up pretty late last night" I asked trying to break the silence "Oh I'm fine, I think I did good on the test" she smiled, I could see the bags under her eyes
"It's ok, I bet you did great" caleb rubbed her back and she smiled at him, Maddie rolled her eyes.
Sadie always had the biggest crush on Caleb, it faded away after Maddie and him got together, but I predicted it was coming back
"Uh guys, I think I'm gonna take a road trip.. just by myself, I wanted to let you know so you don't freak out or anything" Noah said to all of us
"Cool where?" I asked
"I-I don't know" he said
"Just know I will be alright"
"Good cause' we all love you bro" Finn said lightly smiling at him, we all subconsciously nodded our heads
"Want me to come with you?" Sadie asked
"No, I think it's something I want to do alone if that's okay"
"Of course" Sadie said looking back down at her food
We fell back into silence
I was too lost in my own thoughts to realized who was staring at me
I turned my head and looked over to Finn, who was sitting next to me and smiled lightly
"What?" I asked in a low voice, to let the group know that I was just talking to Finn
"You're beautiful" he quietly said
I blushed, and tucked a strand of hair behind my ear. I was told I do that when I'm nervous, I mean he hadn't talked to me in at least five days then out of the blue he said 'you're beautiful'?
"Come with me" he said getting up and holding his hand out
I hesitated at first because I wanted to eat the rest of my lunch, but then again I wasn't gonna risk not talking to him for another five days.
"Okay" I smiled and took his hand that he was offering me
"We will be right back" I said not waiting for an answer, Finn and I walked to the exit door.
"Where are we going?" I asked squeezing his hand
"Well look outside, it's such a beautiful fall day" he says crunching his eyebrows and pointing past the crowds of people eating lunch out the big windows of the cafeteria.
"Okay?" I laughed out as we exited the dining hall through an exit door into the frigid fall air
"See it really is beautiful outside" he said taking in a deep breath and closing his eyes, I took a deep breath in as well, something I hadn't done in awhile it felt refreshing.
"Yeah" I said quietly
"Let's sit down" he sat down against the wall of the building and patted the ground next to him
I took his invitation and sat on the slightly damp ground, I pulled my grey sweater tighter around my body since it was chilly
"You know, I realized something" he said, I giggled a little because I thought he would just say one of his cheesy jokes that I adored.
"We don't, have any purpose in this world" he said turning to me and looking into my eyes, my smile dropped but his smile stayed as if he were amazed.. he looked back out at the sky and continued
"And, that's why we have religion because religion makes everybody think we are here for a reason, but the truth is we aren't. Our brain's job is to keep us alive so it makes us think that we are making a difference, like if we pray or have rules but when you pray you aren't doing shit to make any differences. and what's the point of living if there is no purpose, that's why the brain makes us think we are changing the world and making changes. But we aren't, well yeah some people might be but we aren't, for example we might want the homeless to find a home but we aren't going to build them one." He paused, and I
looked him in the eyes, confused about what he's getting to.
"Some people choose to think about it the bad way, some people think that killing themselves is the answer, and sure that might work, that is what you call the lazy way out, but little do they know that they could've taken another way, a better way. I believe that life is short, and, yeah we don't have any purpose, so fuck it. I say make reckless decisions, because you only live your life once, one time... and would you rather spend it following the rules, being pushed around, and not making any changes, or spend it having fun, falling in love and being spontaneous!" He paused again for a short second
"But I've found out recently that I do have a point in living, and it's you, you are my purpose in life Millie Brown" He finishes, I felt a tear coming down my face... I wasn't sad, I was just, moved.
"Don't cry, I'm sorry" he said wiping the tear away from my face and scooting closer to me
"It's a lot to think about, but that's all true." I said to him
"Let's do something crazy." He said grabbing onto my shoulders and looking into my eyes... ever since his parents died his eyes have had this gray look to them, the they were drained of color
I thought for a couple seconds, what could we do?
"Let's run away"

•there is a whole world they could explore, where do you think they are going to go?

•oh and I haven't forgotten about Iris.
