A burnt child

I've always been a chubby child,

Not aware of my stains and flaws,

Quite blunt and perky and wild.

I was happy the way I was.

Then you came along and made me fear

Your devious, malicious tongue.

And your sophisticated, snobbish sneer

Had no mercy with a girl so young.

Your horrid laughter was my knell,

While I drowned in filthy fleer and flout.

Abandoned hope in an empty shell,

My virtue gone, you croped the sprout.

No more dreams left to aspire.

A burnt child dreads the fire.
