Round Two: Entries

I sighed, 'No one will find out, we're a long way from Ellesmera. I would be surprised if anyone saw this.'

Farran just shrugged his shoulders, 'I guess not.'

He started to fly off again. Most dragons would be saw after such a feet, but Farran had done it so many times his wings were used to the strain.

I leaned back in his saddle. It had been a year since we had arrived in Ellesmera, and it was by far the best year of my life.

I didn't really have to worry about anything, except my dragon and the training. I was under a master called Aloth, or as Farran and I like to call him, A Sloth. He was an alright guy but he took his time in almost everything he did. It was actually very annoying. His dragon was just as slow. It was a giant yellow thing with a scar on his shoulder and a ripped wing. How it happened I don't know.

The training itself was awesome, except for the meditating. The magic was alright, I like inventing new spells and such, but my real passion was the flight training. It was the best thing, practicing battle manoeuvres and such, and especially in real situations. The funnest parts are when we crash into the ground while doing a slightly to hard trick.

I didn't really think about my family to much. If I do I started to feel slightly guilty about leaving them behind, but then I remind myself that I'm doing this for the better good and everything turns out all right.

As we flew I felt a sudden tug at my mind. I frowned, and tried to tighten my defences, but the person broke through easily. I was never that good with the mental stuff.

If froze as I felt the force enter, beginning to feel a small fear creep up inside of me.

'Where in the world are you!' yelled the voice in my head.

I winced slightly, 'Aloth?'

'Yes you idiot,' replied Aloth, 'Where are you, you are suppost to be meditating.'

I widened my eyes and looked up at the sky. An hour hadn't passed yet, why would he be checking.

'Aaah, sorry,' I said, trying to mean it.

'Oh it doesn't matter,' replied Aloth, 'Just get back down here. Something is amiss and we need your help.'

I frowned. Even without me telling him, Farran began to make his way down to the ground. He landed with a slight thud near the man's hut.

He and his dragon were standing there, along with a few of the elves. I felt my cheeks burn in embarrassment. I wasn't used to so many people being around, and with what I had just done, sneaking away and all, they probably weren't that impressed.

"Oh good," said Aloth, "You're here."

"What's up?" I said.

Aloth looked to one of the elves. He stepped forward, looking up to where I was sitting.

"There is something amiss on the edges of Du Weldenvarden," said the elf, "There are trees and plants there that are dying off slowly, and unnaturally. There are also reports of human villages being attacked. The soldiers we have sent there so far haven't returned, so we have decided it is time to send you and your dragon there, see if you can clean up this mess."

My eyes widened slightly, they wanted to send me on a mission.

"Why... why me, surely there would be a more suitable dragon and rider to send," I replied shaking.

"Yes, but you need to get in the role of dragon and rider," replied the elf, "You have had it soft since you first got here. Now it is time to take a step up. You leave this afternoon."
