Chapter 2. 'When we first met'

Start from the beginning

“I want to know why! Tony, why?” she slammed her hand on the counter, the other tighten its grip on the chocolate bar, causing it to break into a few pieces. He reached for a glass and poured the liquid into it, filling it to about half the volume of the glass.

“Before that-“ Eve suddenly stopped herself before continue to ask Tony why her mother hates her, “Does that mean my parents are divorced? Why did mom marry him if she knew he was a crazy scientist? Why is dad doing in Spain anyway? Why am I only allowed to watch TV when I turned 18? Why in the worl-“

“Slow down, princess!” he held up his hand to stop her before she runs out of breathe, “One at a time.” She stopped, slowly catching back her breath, sat there quietly and waiting for him to reply all her questions.

“Well, err- your first question, they are not divorced, at least, I don’t think so,” he scrunched up his face, deep in thoughts, “Umm- as for your second question- what was it again?”

“Why did mom marry him?” she took another bite of the chocolate bar and waited for his reply.

“Right, I don’t know about that. And your third one? Why is your dad in Spain, was it?” she nodded and took another bite.

“He has a lab there and all the resources they need are found there,” he paused and thought for awhile before continuing, “Anymore?”

     “TV, age 18, why?”

     “I don’t know, I ain’t a God.” She sighed and stared at the counter-top.

“And to answer your other question,” he hesitated, “Your mother think that-“

She looked up from the table-top and stared at the older man, her mouth parted slightly and waited for his respond.

“She thinks that your father, maybe, has injected some- well, serum he was working on for years into your body.” He finished and waited for her reaction. She merely stared at him and made no other effort.

     “Evie?”

She continued to stare at him.

     “Hey, love?”

Her mouth parted again, but made no effort on saying anything.

“Hey, I know it’s hard to take in everything all at once but-“

“So, I’m a monster?” she furrowed her brows in confusion, her eyes stared aimlessly into her dark orbs, waiting for some respond.

“No, no. Of course not, silly.” He stood up and walked over to her, “She’s just worried that, you know, maybe some weird side effects.” Her mouth started to tremble, small puddles of water formed at the corner of her eyes. He could tell she was holding it in all along, remembering the first time they met at her house.

It was near 7 in the evening , Tony Stark was invited to the Robbins’ mansion for a meal of dinner. Worrying that Tony might cause trouble to the CEO of the Robbins Industries, in which both the company had formed an alliance, Pepper tagged along to keep him from making messes all around.

“Beautiful house you have here, Evelyn” the dark haired man complimented as he walked beside the owner of the house.

“Why, thank you, it was based on the house we have in Spain-“ her red lips stretched into a horrifying wide-smile, her face looking ever so twisted; which Tony likes to called it; the Red Queen’s sorcery.

“Mom?” a voice of a young lady came from behind, “Is dinner ready yet?”

Both Tony and Evelyn turned to find a medium-height young lady, long dark brown hair that reaches to her tiny waist, beautiful green orbs complimented with an outer layer of blue highlights and skin as fair as Snow White. He stared at her gleaming beauty covered with a gloomy aura, mouth parted with no words.
