one two, he stopped.
one two,
he counted softly to himself. when the music
started he shook his head. "stop slacking."

her purple coated lips wanted to tell him
that he was being to harsh on himself, how careful
his steps were. so she would surprise him.
she placed her phone in her fragile hands and hit
the red record button.

she would silently watch it during class, when she
couldn't sleep, and whenever the lonely rain
made an appearance at her window.
when she is filled with joy, and when she is drowing
in a river she made herself.
she'll watch it so much that it'll be stuck to her
mind like a piece of gum. maybe they could dance
together one day.

as she made her way to the exit, she
thanked him with a smile that he wouldn't see.

she didn't know his name but she
whispered "thank you for being the one i admire."
before turning around and pretending
like it never happened.

maybe he heard a voice emerge from the silence,
but he shrugged and ignored it before returning to his practice. because no one could admire him,

for he could not be admirable.
