Chapter 2

He opens his mouth to say something but the doorbell interrupts him. His face goes from triumph and curiosity to anger and fear in a split second. We both stand still for two minutes doing nothing until the bell rings again, causing us to come out of our daze and walk slowly to the door.

As soon as we open the door mum says " No sabes cómo mantener una casa limpia? (Do you not know how to keep a house clean) You still need your mum to clean for you at your ages?" Zach and i look over at each other, giving each other a look whilst mum gives us a disapproving one.

"Donde están tus modales? (Where are your manners?)" She continues "Invite me in."

"Ma, come in." Zach says almost reluctantly, causing mum to arch her eyebrow.

"Perder la actitud antes de que lo pierda para used (Lose the attitude before I lose it for you)" She tells him sternly as she walks past him into the living room, making him gulp audibly.

As she takes a seat, she looks over expectantly over at us. I walk over and sit on the the couch opposite the seat she sat on. Zach slowly makes his way over to the couch and sits next to me.

She's still staring at us.

Still staring.....

Staring....

This is f*cking awkward.

"Ma, would you like anything to drink?" I ask, trying to break the silence.

She shakes her head no and keeps staring.

"Fine! I'll go church!" Zach blurts out suddenly, making me jump.

"Was that so hard? Did i have to come all the way out here for this?! Foolish child. You are coming next week too because of the inconvenience you have caused me." Mum smiles after saying this.

"I'm working next Sunday" I say almost cheerfully. Mum's smile drops immediately, causing my back to go up.

"Then you will go on the Saturday" She says sternly, leaving no room for argument. Well okay then. "Me voy a ir ahora. Voy a ver que tanto el domingo con su hermana. (I'm going to go now. I will see you both on Sunday)" She says as she stands up and brushes invisible dust off her clothes.

We walk her to the door and give her a hug goodbye "I love the dress hija (daughter) " She says before she leaves. I knew she would...

People say i look like my dad, my sister looks like my mum and Zach looks like half and half. I couldn't disagree more. My mum isn't ugly so her and Malissa could not look alike at all. I don't remember my sperm donor so I wouldn't know if i look like him. He left my mum when I was only 2, Zach was 5 and Malissa was a foetus in mum's stomach. I know, he's an a**hole. He was f*cking his secretary and fell in love with the h*e so he left mum to be with her.

I tell Zach I'm going to take a nap before for my night shift today and he tells me he won't be home when i get back because he has a date then he gives me a naughty smile and wink making my face scrunch up in disgust.

As i lie in bed, waiting to fall asleep. I can't help thinking about Arun and the baby he put in my stomach. I miss him and hate him. He hasn't tried to contact me since the day i left him which hurts. He's probably busy f*cking the whole of east London's fake h*e b*tches. I place my hand over my belly and whisper "No necesito un hombre. (I don't need a man) I can do this alone." I have Zach, mum and my best friend Senita.

I met Senita in uni, we were both studying medicine. Now 6 years later, we are still best friends and training in the same hospital. Hopefully, she is working tonight also.

My eyes start to get heavy and i drift off to sleep.

7:30pm

My phone alarm blares loudly in my room causing me to wake up. I lay there for about 10 minutes then start getting ready to leave. I live 5 minutes from the hospital by car. I looooooove my car. I saved up for years for my baby and i will never get a new one. My beauty is a white CLA Coupe Mercedes. I love my baby. Babies...

As i walk into the entrance of the hospital to make my way to the ER ward, I am greeted by the unique clean hospital smell and the cheerful receptionist Kaylee. Kaylee is cute... always happy. Too happy sometimes, to be honest. She is short and has a brown pixie haircut which suits her small face and eyes.

"Good evening, Kaylee." I greet her as I make my way to sign in.

"Good evening, Davina!" She waves eagerly. "It's busy today in A&E! Good luck!"

I nod at her politely. I love the busyness of the A&E. It's therapeutic, it's a distraction from my mind and life.

I walk to my locker to put my my bag inside and close it. I am greeted by Senita's smiling face. YAY!

"B*ITCHHHHHHHHHH, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?!" She screams as she hugs me. Senita is gorgeous. She has smooth and clear brown skin. Her face is like the face of a model and her eyes are a dark brown that glisten. Her body is the complete opposite of mine, she is tall and slender where I am short and curvy.

"I'm sorry, I've been busy" I say guiltily.

"Busy getting some D*CK?!" She asks eagerly and loudly. Too loud. I slap my hand over her mouth.

"Senita, keep it down. We are at work! And no,I haven't been getting d*ck" I whisper towards the end and take my hand off her mouth.

She looks at me disappointed then her face lights up "Saturday we are going out to get a d*ck in you, maybe two." Oh God!

"It's Monday, something might come up on Saturday." I try to argue.

"I will come to your house, that you share with your hot brother, and i will drag you out." She says seriously. Why did she have to mention the brother part? Eww.

"That won't be necessary.. I will go" I say reluctantly, her face goes back to looking disappointed.

"When will i get to see his fine a** again? It's been ages" She whines as we begin to walk out of the locker room.

I groan and decide to ignore her. This will be a long shift but with Senita here, it will be fun.

This is my first book. Please leave constructive comments. My Spanish is probably a bit wrong.

The chapters will get longer as the book goes on. The beginning will be a bit slow because it's an introduction to the characters. Chapter 4 or 5 is when the story will really begin.
