Chapter 30

We arrived and I quickly unbuckled my seatbelt.

"Do you want me to come in with you or wait for you out here?" Ashton asked

"No, Kian can drive me home"

"Bye Ash" I gave him a quick kiss and went inside the hospital

When I got to my mother's room she was sleeping. Kian was sitting on a chair next to her.

"Hi" I said

"Hey" he replied

"Did you tell her where I was?"

"She was sleeping when I got here, so no but I expect you to tell her the truth when she wakes up" he said

I just stayed quiet and sat down in another chair. I scrolled down my timeline on twitter while my mom was sleeping. She woke up thirty minutes after.

"Oh hi Kian and Emma" she said

"Hi" we both said

"Where's Rick? Is he also hurt?" she asked

"No he's fine, he's waiting outside" Kian said

Rick was my mother's partner at the police department.

"He wanted me to tell you he's sorry he let this happen. He was tell you himself but I was too mad to let him in here." Kian said

She nodded and Kian looked over to me. I really was going to tell her.

"Uh mom I... I was..."

The doctor walked in before I could tell her.

"Hey how are you feeling?" the doctor asked my mom

"Fine" she replied

"Ok good, we are going to keep you overnight and we will perform the operation tomorrow morning" he said

"Okay"

He left and my brother went to get my mom food.

"So what were you going to tell me before the doctor came in?" she asked

"Oh I was... just wondering if I could stay here or if I had to go home?" I lied

I really was going to tell her about seeing Ashton but he means too much to me.

"You have school tomorrow, just go home with Kian. I'll be fine." she replied

She smiled sweetly and I felt guilty for lying. Kian came back with food for my mother shortly after. My mom thanked him for bringing her food. I know she didn't like hospital food but she ate it anyways.

It was getting late and my mother told us we could go. We tried to get her to let us stay but we ended up going home.

"I'm guessing you didn't tell her" he said while driving home

"No" I replied

"She's going to find out someday, and it will just be worst if she finds out without you telling her."

"I know"
