'Ladies and gentleman, I present you: Femme Fatale!' riep Mr. Masters, het schoolhoofd. Een bescheiden applaus schalde door de zaal. We kwamen opgelopen, de lichten waren gedempt. Het thema was 'Guilty Pleasures'. Oh help. "Guilty Pleasure" was nou niet echt het genre waar tieners voor gingen. En we moesten ook nog eens reclame maken voor de musical!

Onze kleren pasten bij het optreden, we waren er klaar voor (http://www.polyvore.com/spice_girls_performance_wattpad_story/set?id=121354442). Mr. Masters had ons verantwoordelijk gesteld voor de musical. Vanavond zouden ouders kunnen zie dat de cultuur op deze school nog ""heel belangrijk werd gevonden." Mr. Masters had er natuurlijk niet bij gezegd dat hij had bezuinigd op Art Club. Maar ja. Guilty Pleasures. Daar had ik maar twee woorden voor: Spice Girls.

Het was even stil. We hijgden van het dansen en zingen. We bleven in precies dezelfde houding staan waarmee ons optreden was afgelopen. En toen begon er iemand te applaudisseren. Ergens achterin de zaal, ik kon het niet goed zien.

De rest van de zaal begon ook te klappen. En het werd steeds harder. We lieten onze lichamen eindelijk ontspannen. Mr. Masters kwam het podium opgelopen. Hij maakte met het publiek met zijn handen tot stilte en zei: 'well, that is what I call a performance! Well done girls! You gave me the feeling that the musical is going to be a huge succes this year!'

We bedankten Mr. Masters en gingen achterin in de zaal zitten. De andere optredens waren ook heel goed. Dansers, sketches en rappers kwamen voorbij. Allemaal waren ze heel getalenteerd. Misschien zouden we ze zover kunnen krijgen om mee te doen met de musical.

Na afloop liepen we door de foyer. Ik stond even te praten met mijn vader en Al, toen Kate me mee trok naar haar familie. Haar ouders stonden met hun rug naar mij toe met een jongen te praten, Kate's oudere broer. Zodra Kate om hun aandacht vroeg draaiden ze zich om. Ik keek pal in het gezicht van Oliver, de jongen die ik bij Gail's had ontmoet.
