Song: "Why'd you only call me when you're high" by Arctic Monkeys

|| B. COOPER ||

"Seriously B, it's time you moved on from him."

I lay on my couch, a box of Kleenex tissues on the table across from me, my body covered with a fleece blanket, keeping me warm. It had been a week since Jughead's birthday party, and things didn't go well—according to him, our reconcilable differences will only make things harder for us in our relationship, and letting go of each other will be hard once we've gone deep into it.

We decided it's best if we ended things before it got any deeper, but I guess it's no use.

I love Jughead, and nothing can change that. I realized that once we've gotten into the fight. I always knew I liked Jughead more than I liked Archie, but I never thought I'd fall head over heels in love with him. I'm in it deep, but it seemed as if Jughead wasn't.

"I don't want to, V. I'm not yet giving up on him."I reasoned out, a whimper escaping my lips as I snuggled comfortably into my blanket, letting it cover my body up to my chin. Veronica sat on the couch beside the one I occupied, her legs crossed, her eyes doing a slight roll. "Betty, I love you, but you gotta use your head right now. Jughead hurt you, and it's time you moved on. There are a billion more guys in this world, I'm sure you'll find yours. But now you gotta accept that that guy isn't Jughead."

"How do you know that? You don't know what it's like to fall in love, V!"I snapped at her, hiding under my blanket, letting the tears burst out once again as uncontrllable sobs escaped my lips. Veronica stayed silent for a while, sighing softly. "I know that you like to call yourselves Romeo and Juliet, but that's just not true, Betty. That's just the way the world goes—the people we like, and in this case love, don't love as back as much as we love them. Romeo and Juliet are the exception, not the rule."She stood up, straightening a few wrinkles that had started to form on her coat, a sigh escaping her lips.

"Well, I will be clubbing with Kev and Josie for the night, and if you want to feel a lot better, you should come too. Or at least catch up."She said, grabbing her purse before heading towards the door. "Please promise me you'll at least try to get over him, okay? It hurts me seeing you like this, Betty."

I was once again left all by myself, alone in the darkness of the Cooper residence. My father was still sleeping in the Register and my mom had gone out for a journalism convention for a couple of days. At nights like this, usually Jughead would come over and hold me until I fall asleep, and oftentimes even stay to make sure I wake up at a reasonable hour and without bad dreams. But that can't happen now—he's done with me.

And so I close my eyes, surprisingly quickly drifting off to sleep.

My eyes snapped open and all I could see was pitch black.

I bolted upright, looking around, my eyelids heavy with sleep. A part of the living room was dimly lit by the moonlight while the rest was completely black. I had another nightmare—obviously about me losing Jughead.
