I woke up to hear arguing. It didn't surprise me. It wasn't abnormal for my parents to fight. I got up and approached my bookshelf. It was a shelf full of adventures, memories, and love. Books were my one of the many things that distracted me. Ever since I was little my mom and dad fought. A lot . . . it wasn't there fault there marriage wasn't working out. They almost never saw each other,or me, because of their jobs.  But on a positive note, because of it, we definitely weren't poor. Reading was my retreat from all that. When ever they fought, I would tune them out by reading or by making stuff from scraps from around the house. I quickly grabbed my book, and walked to my bed. I plopped down and smiled. My bed was like my home. I spent almost all my time here. It's not like parents care at all. They are so busy with whatever they do, that we really only talk when we eat.
After I finished reading , I got up. My stomach was growling. I walked out into the living room and into the kitchen. I grabbed the bag of Frosted Flakes and emptied the rest of the contents into my bowl. I quickly grabbed the milk and poured it over the cereal. Just then I felt something rub against my foot, and I jumped. Then I realized that it was just my cat, Smores. I reached down and pet her. She was the only one who truly knew me. I stood back up and peeked around the corner in the TV room, taking a bite of my cereal. There were my parents, sitting down on the couch watching the TV snuggling. Obviously they were over whatever they were arguing about. I smiled and started to walk back to my room, since everything seemed normal, but I felt a finger tap my shoulder and I turned around. " Hey dad" I said surprised. "Come sit down with us sweetie" he said with a obviously fake smile. I was just glad he was back home. Last week he was in the hospital for appendicitis. That means that he had to have his appendix removed. It was a common operation, but I was worried the whole time. I walked slowly into the TV room where my mom motioned for me to sit down next to her. It looked like she had been crying..."Honey. . . your father and I have some bad news".
