The story of Blue

1. The day of new

Blue was a curious mer who often let his mind wonder along with his body. He would just swim and swim till he couldn't anymore. "Today," he thought, "I will go to the shallows and see if any land walkers have dropped anything neat." He was a fast swimmer a strong bright blue tail helped him glide though the water. Blue swam towards the coral reef that was near the shallows but stopped himself when he saw a land walker swimming with a mask of sorts on. He seemed to be doing something with the corals. Blue swam closer, he wasn't scared, mer could be deadly if threatened. He swam over.

Austin was a young marine biologist who was helping his dad collect samples. He, unlike his father, was excited to get in the water and collect things. His dad never really got in the water. Austin saw something move out of the corner of his eye. He swam closer  only to have his goggles ripped from his face by a half human half fish guy. Austin gasped and swam to the surface. "What in the-" he dove back down only to see the creature still there, turning the goggles over in his webbed hands and examining them. Austin resurfaced, "no way, that was a merman." He swam back to shore and grabbed his note book filling it with everything he could remember about the mer. Then, a splash. "Hey what are these?" Came the voice. Austin looked up to see the mer holding the googles out. Austin looked up, "w-well, they are goggles" he said, suddenly short of breath. The mer looks at them and sat them down "I am sorry I took them, I was just curious." Austin looked and moved a little closer, "it's alright, hey tell you what how about I'll tell you my name and you tell me yours." Austin said gently grabbing the goggles. The mer cocked his head but nodded, "I'm Blue." Austin raised an eyebrow, "no no I meant your name" he said. The mer let out a sigh , "Blue is my name" he looked at Austin. Austin quickly wrote it down, "well I'm Austin." Blue smiled gently "hello Austin." Austin nodded, "how, um, did you get your name?" Blue raised his tail out of the water ,"not very creative was it" he chuckled his bright green eyes shimmering, "I have never been this close to a land walker before" he said. Austin sat closer, "land walker?" Blue nodded," you know those who walk on the land without tails." Austin just nodded. Blue looked over the webbing on his hand and brushed some sand off the scales, "well nice meeting you Austin, I better-" Austin cut him off, "wait! Um I was wondering do you think you could meet me here again, I am doing a study of this area and maybe you can help me impress my dad" he said hopefully. Blue gave a sharp toothed grin "of course, but you have to bring me something from the land as a gift" he smirked. Austin chuckled, "alright deal, help me impress my dad and I'll bring you anything." Blue slapped the water with his tail in excitement, "alright! See ya tomorrow A!" He said and dove down. Austin looked, "A?" He thought "hmm I'll ask tomorrow.
