As the description says, this story/book/whatever you want to call it will be following 6 clans in their ventures to stop a Jikininki from wreaking havoc. Should you wish to find out more about the Jikininki at any point during this I'd recommend the tale of Muso Kokushi.
Like the description suggests, again, the Jikininki in this is ... different to the type you'd read and hear about. The Jikininki is the spirit of a selfish, greedy or impious individual who has been cursed after death. A typical Jikininki laments their condition and hates what it has been forced to become, this one... not so much.
However, the Jikininki in Intertwined will also draw similarities between itself and the Wendigo from Algonquian folklore. As a result of this, please do not assume what you read here is strictly based upon the Jikininki (oh my, how many times will I say 'Jikininki'?).
In other words, don't read this and then try to teach all your friends about it solely based on what I've said.
