            Chapter 7 : Thirty four

''A gay strip club?''

He threw the demented pink scarf away from him.

"I can't believe you did that!"

Aria laughed.

''I know, I know.. I am unbelievably awesome!''

Devon rested his head on the headrest and let out a sigh of relief. The scene played in his head over and over again. It was no rainbows and unicorns being chased by some odd 40 large, burly and not to mention, gay men. And for a strip dance!! Holy mother of all things sane!

Only he knew how he managed to beat them to the car. Courtesy his long legs, he had managed to jump into the trunk -like he and Aria often did as kids- before any of them could come close.

Aria on the other hand was having the time of her life. She had actually helped the men look up and down the street for her best friend. And when they were starting to give up she had calmed them down with a promise of coming back with him before finally driving off.

Devon was making his presence known by knocking on the trunk but to no avail. Apparently, the newest Eminem song blaring out of the radio was way way more important. And when Aria started matching his rushed words, Devon just knew he was stuck there. So much for having a crazy Eminem fan for a best friend!

She had surprised him by opening the trunk some 10 minutes after. He had been concentrating on the song playing and hadn't noticed her stop the car. It wasn't that apparent though. Their new car was gorgeous and extremely efficient- no engine sounds.

"Get out."

Devon had glared at her but complied nonetheless. He walked around the car to the passenger side with as much dignity as a shirtless guy with a pink fur scarf could muster.

And here they were now- driving to Aria's place.

''How could you do that??''

''Get over it, Devon. It was just a prank. And it was so much fun!''

''Fun? Fun??'', asked Devon in disbelief. '' Did you see those men? I'm lucky to have escaped! What were you thinking!? ''

''You know I leave boring things like that to you.''

'' Yeah...I'm starting to think you need a brain transplant. Clearly, you don't have enough brain cells!''

'' Hey!'', protested Aria, entwining her fingers in his hair and yanking hard.

'' Ouch! Aria!!! Not the hair!''

She just pulled harder making him yelp like a hurt puppy. The character suited him though.

The empty street that led to her mansion was relatively empty and kept disaster from ensuing.

Aria honked in front of the wrought iron gate and it slid open to let the pair in. She parked in front of the patio and slipped out of the car in sync with Devon.

''Here! I don't want my employees dying of trauma!'', said Aria, flinging her jacket at Devon .

''You mean heart attack.''

''I mean trauma.'', she called over her shoulder before stepping into the living room.

'' Hey! I have the best body in town.'', he called after her before following her in, the jacket she had given hanging carelessly from one of his bare shoulders.

                    _______.______

''She talks way too much!''

''I know. She didn't even notice I wasn't listening. I mean you talk a lot , probably even more than she does, but you make sure I'm listening even if that means hitting the shit out of me.''
