Jake's POV

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Earlier~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was pushed back by her arm and stumbled over my feet.
    "No," I heard her say. "We need to talk now."
    She sat down on the step. There was no way I was going to sit next to her, so I casually leaned against the wall, looking at the sky, the floor, even the scratched up wall, anything but her.
    "I see you've made a new friend, Troy," she said, using my last name again. I studied a heart than had the letters B+L scratched into it, and ignored her. "I don't want to see you get too friendly with her, okay?"
    "What does it matter to you?" I burst out angrily. "It's not like you care about me anymore."
    She rolled her eyes and threw me what I think was suppose to be a charming smile. It wasn't.
    "Oh come on, you know you still like me!"
    I turned away from her. That was a question that I still wasn't so sure of myself yet, despite what she has put me through. I just can't make myself say no.
    At my silence, she smiled in triumph. "Well that's all. Remember what I said." She stood up and pulled out the school key.
    At first, I was surprised. Where would she get a key for the school? Then I remembered that Isabella could charm basically anyone, so it wouldn't be that hard for her.
    She unlocked the door and held it open for me. I ignored her, which wasn't the best idea, but I wasn't going to just follow her in. She sighed, the shut the door, locking me out yet again.
    A few minutes later, the janitor took pity on me and let me in.
~~~~~~~~~Back to the present~~~~~~~~~
    Thanks to Alexandra, I was able to push last year's events to the back of my mind, but now they were painfully forced back into my mind.
    "Hey Jake," Alexandra said. "You okay? You're not being annoying."
    I grimaced. Did she really think that was going to make me feel better? Reminding me that sometimes I'm a jerk? Well, at least she was trying to make me fell better. Most people would just ignore me.
    I forced out a weak laugh. "Yeah I'm fine." Still I hid most of my face with my hair. Having hair that covered part of your face actually came in handy sometimes. "And I'm sorry for being such a jerk."
    Alexandra leaned forward and, before I could stop her, pulled my hair back from my face. "That's not what I mean't Jake," she said. "And I know you're not okay. What happened?"
    My eyes darkened and I glanced over at the table Izzy and her friends were chatting away happily at. Jake and Veronica glanced at each other, and Alexandra pouted. "Don't mean to break this mood, but I still have no clue what you're talking about. Would someone please inform me?!"
    "Please?" she added as an afterthought.
    I sighed. She was going to figure it out sometime, and I would rather it be by me.
    "Izzy and I were dating. Probably for about a year and a half actually. And I thought it was going to last. I really did. But I don't think she felt that way. As you have most likely already seen, sometimes I get here later than I'm suppose to. So I got here around lunchtime. So I slid into the cafeteria to find Isabella and Eli Woods in a—tight embrace. She saw me freaked, and the next day broke up with me."
    "But I thought that you broke up with her?" Alexandra interrupted.
    "No, be quiet. Anyways, I guess she still had feelings for me or something, so she started saying that I broke up with her, and that I broke up with a lot of other girls as well to make sure that I wouldn't date any other girls, but unfortunately, it made me more popular with the girls." It felt good to say it and get it off my back.
    Alexandra stared at me. "What don't you believe me?"
    "Of course I do!" she exclaimed. "But it's a lot to take in."
    I sighed. "I know. Just don't let Izzy know I told you. She'd have a fit."
    Alexandra looked over at Izzy. "Sure. There's  absolutely no way she'll find out."
