Alexandra's POV
My dad looked sternly at me as we entered the hallway. "Alex, you know what I said about having another boyfriend!"
I rolled my eyes. "Dad, honestly, he's not my boyfriend! He's a friend from school!"
My father straightened his suit.
"Alexandra, the last time I checked, you weren't very fond of making friends, but now you bring home two of them! Do not expect me to be curious about your relationship with that Jake boy?"
    I sighed. "Dad..."
My mom spoke up. "Honey, we just to protect you. Your heart was broken once, and I don't want you to have it broken again!"
"Also," my dad added," he looks just like the person who would dump you the first chance he gets."
Suddenly I remembered what Izzy had told me. She said that Jake liked to date and dump girls. I shook my head to clear it; it didn't matter to me that Jake liked to break girls' hearts! It's not like I liked him or anything!
"Dad, can we just let this be? I promise I'm not dating him!"
My dad sighed. "I want to hear that you aren't dating from the boy's mouth." I shrugged and entered the kitchen to find Veronica sitting on our table.
    "Wait, where's Jake?" I asked.
She smiled at me. "He just walked out your door not too long ago!"
At that moment, my parents decided to enter the room. My dad looked pointedly at me. "So, where is that boy? I want to talk to him."
"He had to go," I answered. At that moment, Veronica spoke up.
"Hey Mr. and Mrs. Sarns! If you want to talk to Jake, I can text him to come back here!"
"That really wouldn't be necessary..." my mom assured her, but Veronica already whipped out her phone.
"There!" she said. "I texted him to come back because Al's parents wanted to talk to him!"
I face palmed, and glared at Veronica. Why couldn't she just let things be?
