What seemed like hours went by in nearly an instant as Dimitri watched the rest of the performances and while some went smoother than others, Dimitri was completely enthralled and captivated the whole time. For the first time experiencing a vastly different culture, first-hand.
At the end though, Dimitri voiced his desire to go rest. His mind a blurry haze, laden with drowsiness.
Arnett, noticing his fluttering eyes nodded in agreement as she noted that the moon had already moved past its peak point. Stating that the most exciting things of the festival today had already happened and that resting for tomorrow was the wisest course of action.
Dimitri thanked her as they made their way back to the house but felt bad at the same time, after all he was the reason they were leaving early. In other words, he felt like a party pooper. The guilt bothering him even though it seemed like Arnett was perfectly fine with leaving.
"That was a lot to do today, I'm glad we had to chance to enjoy the festival together. My heart hasn't slowed down since the moon dance either honestly." Said Dimitri in a tired voice as he looked back with a smile.
"Indeed, it is certainly the most enjoyable festival I have participated in!"
There was an upbeat tone to Arnett's voice as she spoke and with her body leaning against the doorframe to Dimitri's room, she gave him a subtle smile.
"Although I do find it amusing how your stamina seems to have depleted itself."
"Yeah, yeah, Make fun of the tired guy...anyways you say it's the most enjoyable festival but isn't this the first one you've actually taken part off? You said it yourself, you usually just lurk...like a shadow." Replied Dimitri as he entered his quarters, practically dragging his feet.
"I-That does not take away from the sentiment that I am trying to express!"
Arnett had an annoyed look as she stomped her foot into the ground while her cheeks reddened and when she noticed that her face was changing hues, she quickly turned to the side with a cough. The sight striking Dimitri as cute.
"Right, right, well I'm going to rest for tomorrow. I'm interested to know what the "Lunar selection" that you mentioned is. Day one is Moon Dance, day two is the Lunar selection and day 3 is the...uh..."
"Nothing, the third day is simply reserved to finish festivities and to discuss or process the results of the Lunar selection. Anyways, enjoy your rest, I need to prepare for the day's work. As they say, No rest for the valkja."
Still drained from the festival, Dimitri headed straight to his bed as Arnett closed the door behind her. But the moment after the door closed, he thought he heard a voice speak with a menacing echo from behind him.
"- Well is that not adorable."
The voice sent a chill down his spine.
Uh, Joan, did you hear that or was that just my imagination?
Quickly, Dimitri scanned his empty room and found nothing aside from the creeping shadows that stood outside of the illuminating fires reach.
"I believe so...but I'm not sure. It could be your imagination which transferred to me. There is no one here aside from us after all.
