Chapter 10

The purple light has almost reached Lance now. The sharp crackle of energy cutting through air fills his ears. He can feel it's heat on the flesh of his cheeks, and the deep lilac hue is all he can see.
Oh how he wishes he'd learned to think when he had the chance.
In a last ditch effort to save himself, Lance throws his arms up to cover his face. But it's not enough.
The blast hits its mark dead center. Keith struggles to but can't bring himself to tear his eyes away from Lance. Lance's body tips forward and hits the floor with a deafening thud. He lays there, motionless.
Soundless.
Lifeless.
Dead.

-Ha ha. JUST KIDDING. Did I get you? What am I saying, of course you did. Ha ha ha. I'm so evil :)
Huh?
What do you mean it wasn't funny?! Of course it was funny, I said it.
Okay, okay. I'm sorry. I'll just get back to the story now...
Can you believe those guys? They're just a bunch of lousy-
Wait, is this still on? Whoops! *nervous laugh*
What do you mean 'what was I saying'? I didn't say anything... *awkwardly clears throat*
Can we just get back to the story now? Here, I'll rewind it a bit; -

The purple light has almost reached Lance now. The sharp crackle of energy cutting through air fills his ears. He can feel it's heat on the flesh of his cheeks, and the deep lilac hue is all he can see.

Oh how he wishes he'd learned to think when he had the chance.

Purple. It's all Lance can see, all Lance can feel. A mass of panic rises in his mind. He's going to die.

Suddenly a feeling of cool calm comes over him. It laps at his skin like the sea against a beach and Lance can't help but succumb to the temptation of closing his eyes, letting his mind be pulled to different things. It only takes a second for him to learn what he has to do.

Lance opens his eyes, a fierce determination showing in the blue orbs, before raising his hands in front of him, palms out. He can feel something building inside of him, and with a short battle cry, he releases it. For a moment he doubts if it will work, but all his dubious thoughts are forgotten as the purple obscuring his vision is replaced by by an ocean of blue. It's all he can see, but he's weirdly not scared of it. It's almost...comforting somehow. It wraps around him, creating a shield against the magic rushing towards him.

The purple energy grows closer and Lance tenses his body for an impact, but it never comes. Right as the blast hits Lance, the shield of blue surrounding him absorbs it. Eating it up before adding the strength gained to its own forces and retreating back into Lance's body, for its master is safe and therefore is no longer in need of its help.

The whole room freezes. No one moves a muscle, all to shocked to form a coherent thought.

"Well shit."

Except Pidge, that is.

So I had planned to write and publish this a long time ago but instead I ended up going through my first heart break(still kinda am) and couldn't bring myself to write. Then I went on vacation and there was no wifi so...Thank you for bearing with me.
On another note, more than 800 reads! Yikes. Now I feel pressured to write more often.
On another, another note, I know this chapter is really short. Sorry. Been lazy lately and decided that a short chapters better than no chapter.
On another, another, another note,(does that make sense?)I've decided to start an avengers fanfic with a Bucky x OC relationship but I don't know when to start it. There are three options;

1) Start it now

2)Start it when this story is almost finished

Or 3)Start it after this story is finished

Please comment your opinion!
