Jin's not mad, he really isn't. But he can't help being a little disappointed that Namjoon had waited this long to say he was going to be home late.

Namjoon usually gets home somewhere between 4 and 6 – which is earlier than Jin, whose shift at Starbucks doesn't end until 7:30 – so when Jin came home today to find no Namjoon, he'd already figured that his boyfriend was staying late.

It would've been helpful if Namjoon had texted to tell him before doing so, though.

Jin sighs. There's no use getting upset about it now.

He sits there, saying desperately to himself, I'm not disappointed, I'm not disappointed, I'm not disappointed, trying to convince himself of it, but it's hard to believe. He is a bit disappointed – in his boyfriend, in their relationship, in himself – and it's hard to pretend that he's not.

He finds himself disappointed a lot of the time, actually.

His phone buzzes, and for a second he thinks – hopes, really – it's Namjoon sending an apology. It's not, though, and he's not surprised.

Jin wants to laugh at what's obviously a humorous attempt at flirting, but the words tug at his heartstrings. He remembers when Namjoon used to say stupidly cute things like that.

He also remembers how he'd believed him, but now he knows better because it only takes some time for you're perfect to become you try too hard and for I love you too to become I know.

And although Jin knows that Namjoon isn't a bad person – just bad at expressing his feelings – he's almost anticipating the turn of we're so good for one another to we're wasting each other's time.

Jin's heart swells at the words, then it breaks a little at the realization that he can't remember the last time Namjoon called him lovely.

Actually, he can't remember the last time Namjoon complimented him at all. He only remembers hearing you know I'm like this when I'm drunk and I'm sorry, but everything else is hazy with age.

Jin always tells himself it's okay, but he's starting to find it hard to believe himself. He wants to feel wanted, he wants to feel important, he wants to feel loved and he hasn't felt that way in a long time.
