MY  father and I were always close. Despite the fact that we rarely spent time together due to school and work, he was all I had and I his, and that's why it was always easy to confide in him.

But there were always a few things a teenage girl just couldn't tell her father, and I never had that problem.

Until now.

"Spill."

I swallowed the last of my breakfast and looked at my father. "The graveyard."

Dad dropped the dish he was washing and turned to me. "Say what?"

I nodded.

"With who?"

"Umm... Teddy."

Dad went back to the dishes. "And why were you girls in the cemetery?"

Without even thinking, I rushed, "Visiting Grace."

He pretended like he didn't hear my response and continued. "Wasn't it...cold?"

I sighed. "Not that cold, Dad, I'm fine."

My father sent me a stiff nod, and I took that as my cue to leave.

"Venice, huh?"

August ignored me and continued to mess around with his doodles.

"Where else have you been?"

Again, August ignored me.

I sighed and took a seat on the Miller's porch.

"I liked you a lot better when we never spoke."

I smiled. "Too late."

August sent me a look and went back to his sketches.

"Can I see?"

He immediately shut his book. "No. What do you want?"

"I want to continue reading!"

"Tomorrow. I have something to show you tonight."

I frowned. "Okay. But atleast tell me about Venice."

"I'd rather not talk about it."

I sent him a understanding look. "Is it about your father?"

August stood up and opened the door. "I have band practice to get to. I'll pick you up at 9."

With that he entered the house, leaving me alone on the porch.
