CRACK

The sound of the boy's nose crunching under my fist echoed in the alley. He staggered backwards into the wall, barely managing to stop himself from slumping to the ground.

While he was recovering I took a moment to look around our surroundings; sprawled out on the cold, stone floor were his two friends. I'd been making my way back home, taking a shortcut through an alley, when the three of them had surrounded me and demanded I hand over my wallet. And while the first two had been easy enough to deal with, the third was stubbornly clinging to consciousness.

Suddenly I felt a stinging sensation spreading across my chest. I looked towards the boy and saw the glint of light reflected off of a metal surface, crimson droplets falling off onto the floor. In his desperation, he had pulled out a small pocketknife and slashed me across the chest. I lunged forwards, grabbing the arm that held the blade, and wrenched it sideways causing him to cry out in pain, the knife clattering to the ground. He sank to his knees; tears were welling in his eyes as he begged me to stop hurting him. I grinned as I strode towards him.

I hadn't even started yet.

I dragged the bleeding, whimpering mess of my potential mugger along the ground and out of the alley. As we exited, I noticed a large, black gate, three inch long spikes along the top of it and a golden placard with a white 'S' engraved on it in the centre.

I figured it was as good a place to smash his face into as any.

Hoisting the boy off the ground by the collar of his t-shirt, I took his head in my left hand and stared into his eyes. His eyes widened in realisation as he started to try to stammer out a plea, but before any words could leave his mouth.

Slam

The first blow caused another wet crack to emanate from his nose, a couple of teeth flying from his mouth at the same time. I pulled his head back.

Slam

The second caused the placard to dent and a loud popping sound to resonate as his jaw dislocated. Once again I pulled his head back, making sure not to let his body drop to the floor. I put all my strength into my arm as I pulled back for a final time.

Smash

The third slam caused the entire gate to buckle inwards from the pure force of the impact. The boy's now unconscious form tumbling through into the fancy looking garden beyond. I shrugged my shoulders as I clambered over the ruined gate "If they can afford such an elaborate entrance, they can afford to have it fixed." I thought to myself.

I reached the boy's body and was about to raise my foot to stomp on his head when I suddenly heard dozens of footsteps behind me. I spun around and found myself face to face with at least twelve Atlesian guards, weapons drawn and aimed at me.

"Is there a problem Officers?" I asked with a chuckle, my (e/c) eyes glaring into the visor of the guard closest to me. The guard said nothing; he just kept his rifle trained on me, unwavering. Suddenly I heard movement behind me. I tried to turn and face whoever had managed to sneak up on me when I felt a small prick in my neck. Within seconds my vision had started to blur, and I could feel myself swaying. I managed a nervous chuckle as my vision went completely black, my consciousness fading.

I slowly opened my eyes, my head still groggy, there was a bright light shining towards me, and I instinctively raised my hands to block the light.

But nothing happened.

As I glanced down at my hands, vision still slightly blurred. I noticed the thick looking, high-tech, black shackles that kept my hands bound, a similar pair on my ankles. I looked around the room I'd been put in, trying to find anything useful. But there was nothing. The room itself was painted pure white, a single light in the middle of the ceiling, there were no windows, and only a single black door on the opposite side of the room to where I was currently chained up.
