IV
Please detach me, untie me.
Our relationship is so disparate and unconnected;
You think I don't know what you're doing to me.You want me to be a tragic backdrop,
So that you can appear to be illuminated and clean.
So that people can say "wow,"
Isn't he so terribly brave to love a storm like me.You think I'll be the dark sky,
So that you can be the dazzling stars?I'll swallow you whole.
Our amatory and tender affection was a mistake,
You say my first sin was bad,
But it was never as reckless as my second.You mortify and torture me.
My second sin,
I let you lacerate my heart,
And not mend it again.
