“OORAH! Brothuh!” Will clasped a hand on his buddy’s shoulder. “We gonna make sure of it!”

Just then Matt walked in, looking more relaxed than he had yesterday. There was something about getting away for a night that kept the magic alive in a marriage. Obviously, Matt and Terry were still very much in love. “Terry’s still in the room. She said she’s going to stay there so they have extra protection if needed. I think Adam should know what’s going on, but I’m too chicken to call or knock. I figure, why make him worry?”

“I’m right there with that train of thought. Let’s get this guy outta the way so they can have their happily ever after. Then, I’m gonna call Cammie.” Joe said. The other two men didn’t say anything. They knew all about it and didn’t blame Joe at all.

Just then, Adam walked into the parlor. “What are you doing here, man? You need to be with your wife!” Will joked and hugged him.

Adam said, “She wanted a bubble bath. So, she’s relaxing. Terry’s in our room. I guess she heard the door open. She came out with a quickness.” He grinned. “I noticed the black car. I was looking out from the door at the square. Don’t worry - I wasn’t seen. What’s the plan?”

Joe relayed the information. “Terry has vests up there with her for Renee and herself. There’s also a room the Inn said we could make into a panic room of sorts if the need arises. They’re being a little too kind about the situation. I’m thankful for that. You, sir, have not a care in the world, except that beautiful woman upstairs who just became your wife.” Adam smiled a wide grin, and the guys laughed! “Let’s get back to it, guys. Adam, you go back upstairs!”

“Yes sir!” He said as he mock-saluted, and almost skipped up the stairs.

. . . . .

Ben finally found a place to park a few blocks away. He’d been spotted, but at this point, he figured they were expecting him. He saw the men talking inside, including Renee’s new man. That thought pierced his soul, and made him angry with a rage that could staple a person to his seat. These men would be a fight, for sure, but he’d get through them without an issue.

They were walking around the building. Ben would pick the right time to strike. Then, he’d make his way inside and immobilize the other two before asking the clerk to help him find Renee. Most people could be persuaded with the right monetary incentive. And those who couldn’t be tempted with green would be persuaded by a small gun pointed at the head or a vital organ.

Just then a large man with no hair and a goatee came into view, and saw Ben as he walked towards the Inn. Ben didn’t see him, and the guy tackled him. Taken by surprise, Ben didn’t have time to reach his gun. He punched the big man in the gut and then in the face. Another man, a little larger, came out and started in on Ben. Ben managed to get out of his grasp and took off towards his car.

Will ran for blocks and almost caught him, when he saw Ben get in his car. He kept trying to chase, but lost him on a left turn. He shook his head and went back towards the Inn.

Wheels squealed around the corner as Will started across the street.

Ben pressed the gas pedal and slammed into the large black man, who cracked the windshield before hitting the ground. Ben kept driving. He’d get away now, and make a plan to come back soon to finish what he’d planned to for too many years.

“One down, four to go, and then Renee will me mine.” He said aloud.

. . . . .

Joe ran out yelling Will’s name. Matt quickly dialed 911.

“Will, can you hear me? Will? Stay with me, man.” Terry came out. Having a nurse on the team came in handy.
