Heart of the Hero - Link

Start from the beginning

All Link says to that is "Good."

He then walks inside to sit with Ravenna. He looks at me over his shoulder and notions with his head for me to join them. I sit next to Link, on the other side of Ravenna. She glares at me, because she thinks I was taking Link from her. He already likes her anyway, from what I can tell.

Ravenna adjusts herself so she is closer to Link. He feels her pressing on his arm, and looks down at her. He smiles with the utmost adoring smile. This makes Ravenna smirk at me, sending the message that she's won. I surrender to her. I give up.

"I—I'll leave you guys here. I'm just third wheeling." I sigh as I get up from the table. Link looks at me with a worried face as I leave. Ravenna mouths:

I won.

This was totally worth coming to. My childhood best friend who comes along and has made the one person I like fall in love with her. I storm off to Floria Bridge. A few people stop me to ask if I am okay, but I just want to be left with my own problems. The sun is setting over the lake, reflecting onto the falls behind them. The red, gold, pink and green colour scheme is so beautiful. My only wish is that I got to share it with the one I like.

But that can't be done. I have to move on now. I stand over the bridge, looking down at my tiny reflection in the still water. Focussing on my reflection, I see another head next to mine. I look up to see who it is, and it's...

Link.

What's he doing here with me? Where's Ravenna? Why is he alone?

"What do you want?" I grumble.

"Look. I don't like Ravenna. I can see it in your face that you're jealous of her. Ravenna is actually one of the most annoying people I've ever met. I only act this way so she will hopefully stop flirting with me a bit, but it isn't working. She's only doing it more. I don't love her. I just wanted you to know that." He says. I still look down at the water, trying to send the message that I don't care.

"Where is she though?" I ask.

"I told her I was going to check on our horses. She's back inside."

"She's gonna come looking for you at any minute. You'd better go." And just on cue, Ravenna comes calling out of the stable, looking for Link.

He looks over his shoulder and curses.

"I don't know how you put up with her." I laugh slightly.

"I don't either, to be honest."

Ravenna's eyes lock on Link. She comes hurdling toward him.

"Link! My love! Where—" Ravenna sees me. "What are you doing with her? Do you not love me? You said you'd be checking on the horses," Her words come to a halt. She starts laughing a little bit. "Oh, Link! You funny man. I get it. She's the horse."

Ravenna slows down her laughing and leans in to kiss Link. She expects she would be kissed on the lips, but rather he pushes her away.

"Ravenna. I'm sorry, but I don't love you," Link says. Ravenna looks as if she just got slapped across the face. "I never loved you, actually. My heart belongs to someone else." Ravenna just stands there, gaping like a stunned fish.

"Surely, you're kidding, my love!" She awkwardly laughs.

"I'm not kidding. I love someone else." Link says sternly.

"Haha, welp. It's neither of us, Ravenna. I'm out." I announce as I begin to march off. Link grabs me by the hand.

"I'm not finished..." He says with a serious tone. "Ravenna. You've only told me lies. Lies about my friend. Lies about yourself. I don't appreciate liars."

With that, Ravenna runs off, fuming, and jumps on Link's horse. She rides off in the opposite direction, back to Hateno village. My stomach sinks because Link has referred to me as "friend". Way to be friendzoned, (Nm).

Link readjusts his grip on my wrist. He pulls me into him, holding me close. Heat rises in my chest and face as he continues to hold me. I just sit here for the next while with Link's chin resting on my shoulder. He takes his head off my shoulder and spins me around so we're facing each other. The most handsome smile stretches across his face, his hands holding mine. I feel about as red as a spicy pepper right now.

"(Nm), you know I was telling you and Ravenna about how I love someone else. Well... That person is you." He says to me with an amazing smile.

I nearly faint because I'm so hot and nervous right now. I look up at him with anxious, confused eyes.

"I—I..." I sputter.

His face looks crestfallen at that

"I understand if there's someone else you love. I know how it feels." He says quietly. He lets go of my hands and turns around, but I stop him.

"Link, wait..." I tell him. "From the moment I first laid eyes on you, I thought you were amazing. You brought a smile to my face everyday. About a year ago, I started to fall for you. I tried to snap out of it, but everyday, I'd just fall deeper and deeper in love. I wanted to be with you, and I still do. I know this sounds really corny, but... I love you. And I'm not just saying this because you did too. I really do love you."

He just stands there, eyes watering from thought rejection.

"You mean it?"

"Yes."

Link pulls me into a hug, us both half crying because we're so confused, but in love. Eventually we calm down.

"You know, I've been in love with you the entire time after 3 months of knowing you," Link tells me. Oh damn. That's a long time. "I've been wanting to do this for three years," He pulls me in close. So close, that my chest is pressed against his. He cups the bottom on my chin, holding my head up. The only emotion in his eyes is love. His arm wraps around my waist, the other on my shoulder. Our foreheads touch gently, and in a soft whisper, he says:

"I love you, (Y/N)."

He kisses me. It's a wonderful feeling. Like goddamn fireworks or something. I want it to last forever. It looks like I've won the heart of the hero.
