Chapter Twenty-One: Double Trouble

Start from the beginning

Daniel set my head on the cold, wooden floor and lowered my jaw. Crap he was about to give me CPR. That's kind of like kissing, isn't it? I didn't want to go through with this plan. I probably never looked as hideous as right now and this wasn't how I wanted our first kiss to be.

Not that I was hoping that I could kiss Daniel or anything. Stop focusing on me and focus on what's occurring. Daniel was approaching me slowly, his minty breath was taunting me with it's scent. I was trying my hardest to move a muscle but all my energy was gone for the moment. I was helpless.

"Please get up if you're pretending Ems." Daniel begged. I want to Parker, but the strength is still drained from my body. How did I faint from the easiest of words,

"Danny likes you."

I've heard guys say they like me a bunch of times, but never had I fainted from it. So why now? If this was freshman or sophomore year, I'd care less on how Parker feels about me in the terms of a relationship or emotions. But present day, I couldn't shake it off. I felt clammy and I'm sweating in places I never knew I could sweat! I was ecstatic to know the hidden truth, Daniel liked me.

"Put some tongue action into it." Derek added. The energy refueled my muscles and I sat upwards, fluttering my eyes open. The guys were watching. Derek with his stupid grin and Daniel looked overwhelmed with joy.

I cleared my throat and said, "I'm awake. No need for that."
Parker brought me in a warm embrace and I returned the gesture by hooking my hands behind his back. He had no scent, mostly because he didn't step a foot outdoors, so there was no need for smelling like he lived in the Old Spice factory. He rubbed the back of my head and whispered in my neck, "Don't you ever faint on me, Giddings."

"I didn't choose to pass out." I retorted softly.

Just to ruin the mood, his brother scoffed, "Bring her closer to you, man!" Pushing Daniel and as a result, making him topple over me. Derek whispered an "oops" and began chuckling at us as we stared awkwardly at each other. It was awkward because Daniel shun a half smile, something I've never seen him do. You haven't seen him done a lot of things. Parker smile widened as he flashed his pearly whites, moving a few strands of hair from my face. "How many times have I told you, you look good as a blonde?"

I furrowed my brows and hummed as if thinking, "Just once."

He supported himself with his elbows and replied, "Because my opinion would be an understatement to how beautiful you are."

From my peripheral vision, I saw Derek jolt up on his feet, facing the door. "I said PG-13 Daniel!" See this was the time to faint, because I didn't want to see my parents' face when I try to explain why there's a boy laying over me on the floor.

"Emily Georgia Giddings!" And that was my mom squealing like a pig. Where's father with his obnoxious shouting?

"I should--We should probably..." Daniel tried to ask but realized the only thing to do was scurry off of me and stand up straight. He helped me up and I was eye-to-eye with Mother Dearest and Mrs. Parker. Thankfully, my dad was conversing with Mr. Parker about the golfing match outside and wasn't here to witness...it.

"Misses Giddings, I could explain. I pushed Daniel onto Emily and--" Mom paused Derek and cocked her head to the side.

"Who are you?" The similar words made me have to shout, "I know right!"

Mrs. Parker then butted in to state, "That's our other son and Daniel's twin brother." Mom awed and gave Derek a nice embrace. I'll be embraced too, with her hands strangling my neck! "Daniel was always a klutz and wouldn't do anything to potential damage my little Emily. Right Daniel?" His mother shot him a glare as he nodded vigorously.

Mom softened as she observed my appearance and asked, "Why are you so pale?"

"She fainted on us just a while ago, which explains them being on the floor." Derek jumped in. I'm glad he knew when to speak up, but this problem started because of him. Instantly, her maternal side kicked in as she rushed over to hug me. It wasn't the embrace that I was thinking of, and I'm glad it wasn't. She placed the back of her hand on my head and huffed, "You're burning up. I should have left you home."

No kidding.

We bid our goodbyes and depart to the car. I opened my door but turn back when I heard Daniel call my name. He stood before me with his hand extended out and I shook. Before I could release, he tugged me close and whisper shouted in my ear, "Expect the unexpected!"

My fear resurfaced and the windy air made the oxygen hard to breathe. I hopped in the backseat, watching Parker mouthed out, "The Corduroy." With a devilish grin.

This kid's bipolar to the severest. All the way!
