"W-Why?" I stuttered, sweat beating off my forehead. Is this how Derek felt last night because I feel disgusting. The anticipation was too much for me to handle. I wanted to explode from all this uncertainty. Derek has to spill the beans for the sake of humanity. My humanity that is.
"Why, you ask? You should know the answer by now." But I don't! I don't know the darn answer and I want you to give it to me straight. Don't beat around the freaking bush because I will burn that bush if it's in the way! Rip the bandage off, Derek! Does Daniel like me or not!
Who cares for Cliff Fetcher, this is Daniel Corduroy Parker we're talking about! Better than some quarterback, hotter than a Swedish male model, and a sweetheart when he wants to be. Who wouldn't want that! And I could possibly have all the honors of being called his girlfriend. Tell me now while you still have a tongue Derek!
He jerked back when the bottling anxiousness was visible on my face and raised his hands in defense. "But it looks like you're clueless on how he feels about you, so I'll just say it out there in the open."
For the love of pie, just conclude this climatic scene already!
"Daniel likes--"
"Likes chocolate." Parker interrupted Derek with a forceful shove off the chair. Are they serious! It was like WWE right in front of my eyes. Probably even better than that show because they were really wrestling and not acting like those people on TV. Daniel had Derek in a terrifying chokehold as Derek banged the wooden floor for release. He had let go of Derek, so both could have a chance to breathe. Parker looked to me and repeated his statement, "I like chocolate."
Derek stood up once again after all the air was able to reach his lungs again and laughed, "He'd love it more if you smothered it on your bod--" He fell back to the floor when Daniel's fist struck the side of his guts, almost popping the guy's eyes out.
Daniel shook his head, "He doesn't know when to SHUT UP!!" Shouting to his brother gasping for oxygen.
He looked badly hurt and I watched Daniel with disapproval. I ran over to tend to Derek, thrusting his body upward so his head could rest in my arms. Once his breathing pattern had slowed over time, I helped him onto the couch and he murmured quietly for my ears only, something that I know will keep me up tonight. Something that made me turn fire engine red and weak in the knees.
"Danny likes you."
My legs gave in as I plummeted to the ground. My vision darkened each second and it was clear that I was going to...
-----
"Mrs. Parker? Mrs. Parker get up!" A voice shouted.
"Shut up with that already. Geez!" The chest of whoever was cradling me was vibrating with anger. I know that voice anywhere, Daniel was becoming annoyed. The tone he portrayed was venomous.
Click to the brain: Daniel was cradling me. I think I'm gonna faint again.
"I can't help it." The other voice giggled, it was Derek I'm sure. Someone poked my cheekbone as Derek queried, "You think she died on us?"
"If so it's all your fault and I'm telling!" Daniel barked, "Why'd she faint anyway?"
"Beats me. Maybe she blacked out so you could give her CPR." Derek teased then poked my chin repeatedly. It had to be him because Daniel seemed too frightened to wake me up, although I was already awake. Derek was still prodding on with the poking of my cheekbones and I swear, I'll smack this guy crazy whenever I regain feeling in my hands.
"You think that'll revive her?" Daniel asked uneasily.
"Why not, she doesn't look like she's breathing and she's white like Casper the Friendly Ghost. We have no other choice." That was so mean! How is someone suppose to look when they faint, bronzed and golden?
