I braced myself for the impact of the river but it didn't come. I opened my eyes and Adam had grabbed my waist. He pulled me to him and caught me.
"What the hell is wrong with you!!" Arabella yelled.
"I..I ca.." I started but she cut me off.
"YOU CAN'T JUST JUMP OFF A BRIDGE BECAUSE SOMETHING BAD HAPPENED!! YOU CAN'T RUN AWAY FROM YOUR PROBLEMS YOU NEED TO FACE THEM!! HOW COULD YOU BE SO INCONSIDERATE!!" Arabella screamed. I didn't have any words. Arabella stomped back to her car and drove off. Tears kept falling down my face. Adam held me tight while Jace went to get a blanket.
"Clary. That was stupid." Adam joked. I didn't smile. We got into my car and drove back to our house. Adam said he'd stay with me over night to make sure I was okay.
We walked inside and Mrs. Lightwood ran up to me.
"Clary! I'm so happy you are okay!" She exclaimed. I didn't say anything.
She explained how it all happened.
"I was a teenage mom. Senior in high school. I hooked up with Vince and he lied about his protection. I found out I was pregnant. At first I thought it was just a boy but when I went back.." Mrs. Lightwood trailed off. This was obviously hard for her.
"Th..They said I was having twins." Mrs. Lightwood said.
"Wait. Clary and I are twins?!" Jace said. Mrs. Lightwood nodded her head yes. I guess I can't really call her Mrs. Lightwood now, she was my mom.
"We decided Vince would get one and I would get one." My mom said. I can't believe my mom just handed me over like that.
"But what about Kai?" I asked.
"Vince was cheating on me with Jocelyn. He hooked up with her first and got her pregnant with Kai." My mom said.
Adam held me close to him. This was a lot to take in. As if she read my mind she said,
"I know this is a lot but you have to believe me." Mom said. Jace and I nodded. Jace had tears threatening to spill out any second.
"Is going to go to bed, good night Jace, and Mom." I said. She smiled slightly that I had called her mom. Adam went upstairs with me and climbed into bed while I got ready for bed. I took off my makeup and put in some shorts and a tee shirt. I turned off the light and crawled into bed. I laid my head on Adam's shoulder and he wrapped an arm around me. I scooted closer to him until our bodies were touching. Adam was the best thing to happen to me, even if his first words to me were, "Watch it, nerd."
I eventually fell asleep. The next morning I woke up and Adam wasn't there. I looked around. His stuff was still here. I slid out of bed and slowly walked downstairs. I smelt food so I walked faster. Adam was in the kitchen, making pancakes and bacon. All my favorite foods were on the table. I smiled.
"Morning babe." Adam said. I walked up to him and pecked his lips.
"You didn't have to do this you know." I said.
"Your family has been through hell and back, the least I could do is make breakfast. I smiled slightly.
Arabella was still angry with me. Our mom called Jace and I put of school and Adam's mom did the same. Jace and our mom came down the stairs.
