It is noticeable that throughout the anime, weather seems to be a sort of theme. Sometimes, Yuu and the squad would be looking at the sky. Sometimes, the sky would change color according to mood, especially when Yuu transforms into a seraph. But there is one aspect of the changing weather that reoccurs throughout the Seraph of the End anime that I would like to talk about: snow.
Let's start off with the scene in episode 1.
-----------------
Yuu's finally out of Sanguinem, but it all feels worthless because he's just left his family behind, and now has to live with guilt, especially for leaving a dying Mika. During this time, snow falls, building up the cold and lonely atmosphere after escaping Sanguinem. This shows that the real paradise was with his family, and not this cold, outside world without Mika and the kids.
Let me introduce another few scenes that I'm sure are even more memorable.
--------------------This shows that Mika has finally caught ahold of Yuu. Yes, it didn't snow back when they first reunited, but the difference is that here, this is a more emotional battle scene in which we see Mika now as more of a person who truly loves Yuu and cares for him through the blond's own point of view (instead of the usual third person POV). We can see Mika as even more human in this scene compared to the first reunion.
The snow scenes really show Yuu's and Mika's individual point of views as well as how tired and emotional they are really feeling during the snow fall.
-------------By the time Yuu and Mika are outside together, the snow has already stopped.
Interestingly after they are truly reunited, the snowfall never occurs again.
