"You wouldn't want to do it?"

"Maybe. Given the right circumstances."

"Elaborate." Embry chuckled.

"I wouldn't want to do it alone, or when the waves are really strong."

He nodded with a hum. "The next time the guys want to go, I'll take you. You know, if you wanted to tag along."

"But wouldn't it be just a group thing?"

"You'll be an honorary bro." He shrugged.

"So, I'm a bro, now?"

Embry pulled a face. "To Seth maybe, he's still in the 'bro' phase. Sam hates it."

"What about you?"

"Oh, I hate it too, I mean—"

"No." She laughed. "What am I to you?"

"Well, you're not my bro, that's for sure."

"Should I be offended or—"

"No." He shook his head. "Definitely not offended." Embry glanced over to her. "Unless you want to be a bro?"

"Not really."

"Can I stop saying it now? I'm going to gag."

Callas laughed quietly, nodding her head at him. "Please."

"Good."

"So, it would be okay if I went?"

Embry licked his bottom lip. "Yeah, I think Paul might challenge you, but I'll keep you safe."

"My hero." She rolled her eyes. "I haven't met Sam yet, but I feel like I'll be terrified of him."

"He'll lighten up the more you get to know him, it's not like you're a complete stranger to him."

"Oh? And why's that?"

"The guys and—"

"The guys? Or you?"

He closed his mouth, scratching the back of his neck as he tried to suppress a nervous chuckle, Callas watched him as he replied, "You're ruining my street cred here, Cal."

She snorted a laugh. "What street cred?"

Embry fake gasped, looking offended. "Hey!"

"For what it's worth, you have more street cred than Jake."

"That makes me feel a little better."

"Jared too, maybe Paul."

"What about Seth and Quil?"

"Nah, they're my boys."

"So, what am I?"

Callas raised an eyebrow, shrugging one shoulder. "We'll see."

Embry shook his head, trying to stop his smile from widening. He drove passed the beach, the waves were knocking against each other as they crashed into the shore, soaking up the sand and black stones around the bouldering rocks, covered in seaweed and driftwood. Callas glanced back towards the cliffs, part of the cliff had two levels jutting out, one closer to the water and one higher up. There was no doubt in her mind that the boys tended to favour the higher cliff, but she wasn't brave enough to jump ahead to that one just yet, even the lower one intimidated her and she wasn't even near it. If she was to go cliff diving, she knew she would probably have a heart attack just walking up to the platform area. Maybe she'd reach enlightenment and all of her problems would melt away like the sea foam, or maybe she'd be stuck in the cycle of samsara, although she doubted it, she wasn't very religious. If she was, she wouldn't be a Buddhist, her books meant too much to her, she wouldn't be able to let go of her most prized possessions to reach Nirvana. Maybe the next life.
