I woke to darkness. It wasn't unusual for my dormitory to be dark but this was the darkness if sleep. I checked my pocket watch and saw that it was 11 pm.

So much for sleep.

I decided to walk the halls a little. The grandness if the school always managed to calm me. I wouldn't get in trouble, of course. I was a prefect, and I could get by with flashing my badge around. No one would be the wiser.

I passed what I thought was an empty classroom, but I heard the sounds of sobbing coming from it. I looked around to make sure the coast was clear before gently opening the door. Once I was inside, I closed the door and turned to see flaming red hair and Hogwarts robes mixed together in a corner.

"Go away, Albus," It whispered.

"Rose?"

"Scorpius?" She sat up and pushed her hair away from her face. "I, uh-" tears filled her eyes again and she looked away.

"Hey..." I knelt down next to her and put my hand on he shaking shoulder. "We're okay."

I suppose that should have been extremely awkward. I said 'we'. I barely knew her yet I felt this connection to her.

The next thing I knew she was sobbing into my chest. I had both my arms wrapped around her and my chin rested on the top of her ginger head. Eventually, she looked my in the eyes.

"Will you tell me?" I asked.

She bit her lip, thinking. "I'm not enough." She finally said.

"Oh, Rose. What aren't you? You're talented and smart and brave and kind and- beautiful." The word slipped our before I could stop it. I looked down to see what her reaction was, but she was fast asleep.

Carefully, I picked her up and carried her to the hospital wing. Luckily, I didn't run into any teachers who would wonder why I was taking a midnight stroll with a sleeping girl in my arms. When I got to the hospital I silently laid Rose Weasley, my first crush, down on an empty cot.

Before I could think twice I had kissed her forehead. She stirred.

"Wha-?"

But I was already gone.
