We want pancakes! We want pancakes! I wish I could sleep in. It's six-thirty on a Saturday morning. I rarely take off on the weekends. And I thought that I could get away to sleep maybe until eight am for the latest. I crack my eyes open as I am laying on my back and stare into the eyes of my heart in human form. Who are also the spitting image of their father. Christ! I don't want to go there and open the Ryan drawer. It is just going to depress and put me in a foul mood. "Morning babies" I croak instead. And wonder how the my little minions look so wide awake at this hour of the day. "Mommy you sound like a frog," says my little man and giggles. "No, no mommy sounds like geese," says Raelyn my wild child and wanting to upstage her brother. Who scrunches his nose and ignores his sister.

They are looming over me by standing on either side of my head. "How about the tickle monster before making pancakes" I speak in a funny voice before Raelyn could attack her brother. The twins squeal in delight as I attack them.

The counter is a mess there is brown chocolate milk and cereal spilled all over it. There are also pancakes stuck to it as the twins squeezed a full bottle of syrup all over the surface of the counter. The children have pieces of pancake and dry cereal stuck to their faces. I sigh already tired at the thought of cleaning the sticky mess up.
As I said the twins are the spitting image of their father. Their body movements and facial expressions are all Ryan.

I'm kind of jealous of that fact. RJ even shares the same love for soccer as his father and wears the same hair style. From the moment he could speak he told me what he wanted. And he is his father's biggest fan. Raelyn on the other hand might look like her father but princess Barbie dolls and Barbie animations are her thing. RJ inherited my blue eyes as to where Raelyn's are green like her father.I don't regret getting pregnant at a young age. Did I want to wait to be a mom until I graduated college and have a career. Yes it would have been so much easier. But I didn't use any kind of contraceptives and Ryan didn't once used a condom when we were being intimate.

We were both irresponsible and a month later I was leaning over a toilet bowl. The first thing that popped into my head was to go for an abortion. And yet I couldn't go through with it. I am glad I didn't. My children are my pride and joy. I thought they had died in my belly when Norman, my aunt Nora's boyfriend violently attacked me. He was wearing steel boots when he kicked me all over my body. I was beaten to an inch of my life and flat-lined twice. It was a miracle the twins survived the trauma my body endured. My father was my voice of reason, comfort and love while I was in a coma. He encouraged me to fight and live for my babies and for him. My dad the man I hated was my anchor.

I never properly thanked him for his love and support. It could have gone either way. My father could've disowned me, or demanded I get rid of my babies. But he didn't. He and Julie became my rocks. I missed Ryan too and wanted him with me. but I didn't dare to try and contact him. Dad would've have hunted him down and killed him at the time. He has mellowed as the years went by. He wants me to reach out to Ryan and tell him about the twins so he can be a father to them. I'm still reluctant but Raelyn has been adamant of late of wanting a dad. I guess she is going to get her wish.
I am almost twenty-three years old and dad still calls me numerous times a day to check upon me and the kids.

He is still living with the knowledge and fear of me almost dying. But he has to ease up a bit and focus on his wife Julie and his other two children. My brother Jason and sister Jamie. They are twins too. They have no qualms about dad paying too much attention on me. They bragged that the more dad spend time with me. The more freedom they have. To do whatever the hell they want. Dad's overbearing protectiveness are frustrating but what can I do. Ah thinking of the devil and he shall call. I press the answer button on my cellphone. "Hi, dad".
