Chessa - Why does it have to be like this

Admitting

Tessa:

My head is killing me. I woke up and the whole house was quiet. Usually everyone would be awake. I tried to move but my body ached and I couldn't sit up. All of last nights events came flooding back to my memory. Questions came to my mind, like who knew about it? Did Jake and Tristan tell anyone? I sure hoped they didn't.

Beside me, Tristan was asleep, so I carefully got up, limping on my foot that got stuck. My stomach was growling so I walked into the kitchen to get some food.

"Jake..." I said warily.

He looked up at me, and his body looked exhausted. He smiled, and gave me a hug.

"I'm so glad your ok" he whispered. "When you're ready, I want to know what happened."

"What do you mean what happened? I was going for a run and I got stuck." I said, trying to play off that nothing happened.

"Tessa... you were in the middle of nowhere. You were crying, shirt was ripped and you had scratches on your neck which was bleeding." Jake said, softly.

"I... I... I don't know how that happened?" I stuttered, and ran out of the kitchen into the bathroom.

I cried and cried. I knew I had to tell Jake about James, but he would get angry at me for not telling me earlier. Before I turned 18, Jake made me tell him who I dated, and asked to meet him before any dates. James was the only guy I didn't tell him about, because I knew he wouldn't like him, and he wouldn't allow me to date him.

Jake:

Tessa ran into the bathroom. I followed her, and stood outside the door. She was crying, but I knew she wouldn't tell me what's going on. 'Who does she trust the most?' I thought. 

I went over to Tristan and woke him up. 

"Tristan... can you help Tessa?" I asked, nearly in tears.

"Of course, where is she?" he replied.

I pointed towards the bathroom and hoped that Tessa would tell him what happened. I was sad that she couldn't tell me. She was like my sister. I thought I knew everything about her, but I guess I don't.

Tristan:

I slowly walked to the bathroom, and softly knocked on the door.

"Tessa?"

I hear her crying. It broke my heart to see her like this. I opened the door, went inside, and comforted her for what seemed like hours. We both sat on the floor until she stopped crying and looked up to me with tears in her eyes. 

"T, what happened?" I asked, worried about her.

She took a deep breath and said "If I tell you... will you promise not to tell anyone?"

"I promise" I hesitantly replied. I knew Jake would want to know.

"So, a couple of months ago I had this boyfriend called James" she said, and I knew it would be hard for her to tell this story, "In the beginning, he was so nice and sweet, but after about a month, he started to drink. He was rude, yelled at me and abused me. He cheated on me as well, but I kept giving him another chance. After a while I finally broke up with him."

"What happened last night?" I asked.

She sobbed as said "He texted me and said I had to meet up with him otherwise he would ruin my life. So I did. I got there and he said he wanted payback. So he started kissing me and taking off my shirt. He was trying to rape me".

By now, she couldn't control her tears, and I hugged her tighter, not knowing what to say.

She continued the story "I kicked him and ran away but I didn't know where I was and my foot got stuck in rocks. That's when I called Jake. I don't know what to do."

"Did he hurt you in any way?"

She showed me her neck and the side of her stomach. They both had red scratch marks on them.

"I'm so sorry Tessa... but you're save now. He can't hurt you."

"He will", she cried, "he'll come here and mess everything up."

"I won't ever let that happen."

We went out of the bathroom, and the whole of Team 10 was downstairs. I hoped they hadn't listened to our conversation. Tessa ran up the stairs before I could stop her.

"Did she tell you what happened?" Jake asked.

I nodded.

"So what was it?"

I shook my head, with my eyes to the ground and followed Tessa up the stairs.
