It was back again. You could tell by the creaking of the door.

You lay like a statue in your bed, staring at a sudden darkness infecting your room, engulfing any light in the area around you, you felt like screaming, every part of your body urged you to get up and run, but yet you lay there, being crushed by the intensity of said darkness, you unknowingly shook, your eyes drifting towards the window, your only escape from this hell.

You saw a figure stood there, unmoving and unblinking, its eyes fixated on the very heart of your soul. Your heart was pounding, as if it would emerge from your chest only to join the horrific darkness that was now gripping against the bedpost, ready to leap out and take you yet again.

You felt something tap your shoulder, going against every instinct you rocketed around, everything seemed to disappear, the darkness seemed to have raced away from the room, the silhouette by the window dashing away.

Your heart was beating at a rate that it had never beat before, practically gasping for air you grabbed at your hair, screaming,
"Stop it! Stop it! Get out of my head!"

This wasn't a dream, you knew it wasn't, yet you hopelessly begged to the darkness in your head it was, endlessly repeating 'Please... Stop.' over and over to yourself, as if that would prove of any use, to which you would hear a cruel, high-pitched cackle.

Fatigue consumed you like a serpent, it's tight grip strangling all the air out of your puny body, darkness swarmed your sight, practically blinding you. An instant burst of pain erupted from your hands; skin began to peel off, as if trying to escape from the demise that was sure to come. Your hair would soon join, tearing itself from your head in an attempt to join it's fallen comrades. Layer after layer they all fled, leaving you nothing but a skinless husk of a body.

Pain spread all across the pathetic excuse you were now forced to call a body, the floor beneath you felt as if a million tiny, rusted daggers were sinking into your flesh, cutting through whatever stood in their way like a hot knife through butter.

But even that wasn't the worst to come.

You collapse to the floor, shouting in a raspy, old, voice.
"Someone... Huff...Please! ...Save me from my self-torment...!"

You can't! you're my pet now... Come, my puppet! Show me how you dance!

"No...! NO!" What little that was left of your sanity desperately tried to escape from this torturous hell, everything was ungodly, barbaric! Why did you have to endure all this endless suffering!

The darkness coiled around you yet again, dragging you off to likely yet another form of sadistic amusement. Screaming out in agony, you used every ounce of strength left within you to escape from its grasp. Somehow you succeeded in your attempt, there was still hope!

Running, you'd approach a long stairway, engulfing the sense of hope as you saw a door, you had to reach to it, had to escape! You began to sprint down the stairway, feeling the darkness behind you, you quickened your pace, getting closer and closer to the door you got off the stairs and hope soared through your body.

You were now mere meters away from the door. It seemed to be smaller... Its size was lowering at an incredible speed, you screamed out of fear and defiance.
"NO! NO, NO, NO!" It disappeared as the floor beneath you disappeared, falling into the abyss of your darkest fears. You felt yourself falling faster, the dark alcoves of your sanity finally gave in, and allowed madness to consume.

You smiled, you began to laugh, tears streaming down your face as you plunged towards the ground. This was the end.

Then you would awake from the torture, you were back at your bedside. You had won!

A weak smile would show, and in a victorious effort, you shut your eyes and laughed.

As your eyes flickered open, your mind would scream in fear and agony as the imposing threat dawned on you; it was back again.

You could tell by the creaking of the door.
