I opened my eyes. What happened to me? Jackob? Where is he?

I looked around and saw him next to me.

"Brother wake up." I said nunging him slightly. He moved slightly and muttered a 'What'.

"Where are we?" I asked him. "In the woodcabin like we always are remember. Mom and Dad died 3 years ago. Now go back to sleep." He answered.

Just die? They have been dead for the past 7 years. I thought to myself then I remembered what that troll told me when he killed the witch. Beware of me after the curse.

"Come on Y/n we have to polish shoes in the morning. Well I do anyway, you have to pick apples for Madame Mayor." Jackob said. So child labor was a thing.

"Jackob. I can't sleep." I muttered to him.

"You never can. Go on a walk or something. Go." He said letting me go. I got up and walked around the strange surroundings. Why couldn't I remember anything. The only thing I remember is Beware of me after the Curse. What curse? I never added any curse to anything.

The sun began to rise as I walked back to where Jackob was sleeping. He was awake and putting his vest on.

"Here." He said handing me a vest. "We wouldn't want to be late now would we?" He said. I shook my head.

He grabbed my hand and lead us out of the forest. I breathed in the smell of pine in the air. "Okay do you remember how to get to Madame Mayor's office?" Jackob asked. I shook my head as he sighed.

"Come on then let's go." He said and walked with me to a ginormous house in the middle of a block.

"Biggest house, knock 3 times. Now go." He said and shoved me to the house. I knocked on the door 3 times and waited.

"Y/n you are right on time come. And let me give you your quota for the day." A lady said. I nodded and followed her inside.

"Okay so I want 10 apples from my prized tree and I need you to go to the store and buy some galas, fuji, and macintoshs. Okay? Now get to work. She said handing me a basket.

So this is my life. Buying apples while my brother polishes shoes. The orphan life.
