Sophia woke up with a pain in her stomach, a horrible pain. She stumbled her way to the phone, dialing Nicolas' cell phone number. As the line rung her pain intensified.

"Pick up, Nicolas! Pick up!" She whispered. The line went to voice mail. She dialed again. Ring. Ring.

"Hello? What is it, Cara?" Nicolas asked, his voice deep and tired sounding, he must have been sleeping.

"Nicolas I think-" she was cut short when her water broke.

"Oh my god." She cried. "You have to get here right away! My water just broke!" She spoke, tears running down her face at the realization that he may not be there, and the pain that she was enduring as she tried to walk down the stairs.

"Alfred!" She yelled until he appeared in the doorway in his pajamas.

"What's the matter, Mrs. Knight?" He asked, concerned.

"The baby Alfred, the baby! I need you to bring the car around! Hurry!" She spoke.

"Darling, I'm taking the jet right away, I'll be there in time. I promise. I love you Cara, please be safe and I'll see you soon." Nicolas spoke frantically.

"I love you too, Nick." She spoke as she hung up the phone before dropping it down the stairs and clutching her stomach.

"Damn it!" She spoke in pain.

"Mrs. Knight. The car is ready, come." Spoke Alfred, as he picked her up in a bridal style fashion and carried her to the car. How he could lift her, she had no idea, but she couldn't think about that now.

"Mrs. Knight, we will be there in two minutes!" Spoke Alfred as he drove slightly over the speed limit.

"I'm so sorry for stressing you, Alfred. You deserve a raise!" She laughed before she clutched her teeth as another contraction came. He let out a nervous laugh.

"That I do." He spoke.

As they arrived at the hospital, Sophia was rushed away to give birth to their daughter.

It had been an hour and Sophia was praying that she wouldn't give birth until Nicolas had gotten there. She would suffer the pain, just to see the tears in his eyes as they welcomed their little girl into the world.

Nicolas called Alfred's cell phone.

"Alfred, is she alright? Did you make it there safe? Has Scarlett been born yet?" He asked frantically.

"Yes, Sophia is fine. Yes, we made it there safe, and no Scarlett has not been born just yet. But you must hurry master Knight." Said Alfred.

"I am around the corner and I'll be there in a moment. Tell Sophia that I will be there-" he was suddenly cut off by the screeching of tires before Alfred heard a crash that could have stunned his ears. Alfred's heart seemed to stop.

"Master Knight?" He asked. No answer. "Master Knight! Oh good god answer! You have to be okay! What happened?!" He became scared. He kept yelling his name into the phone, but no answer. Suddenly nurses came running past him.

"Who is it?" One asked.

"I heard it's the Billionaire, Nicholas Knight, Doc said the crash was pretty bad." The other replied.

Alfred's heart dropped to his stomach as he dropped his phone. Nicolas was in an accident, and Sophia was having their baby.

As Scarlett let out her first cry into the world, as Sophia shed her first tear at the beauty of their baby, Nicolas' body was being pulled from his car on 10th Avenue.

Alfred paced back in forth, his heart in his stomach. 'How can I tell Sophia? This was supposed to be the happiest day of their lives. He may be dead! Oh don't say that! He can't be! He has a family now, people that need him! Oh I can't tell her!' He fought in his mind.

Fifteen minutes later Nicolas' body was being rushed to trauma.

"Will he make it?" One of the nurses asked, she was a close friend of the Knights, as was most of the hospital, and would be able to speak to Alfred and tell him any news.

"I don't know. You know as well as I do he could be perfectly fine one moment and dead the next. If he needs to be rushed to the OR he could die on the table. He needs cat scans, x-rays, the whole nine yards, we need to make sure he has no internal bleeding or anything that could justify his life. Sophia just gave birth to their daughter in room 308, that little girl needs her father. Now, let's go!" Yelled the doctor as Nicolas was rushed away. The nurse ran to Alfred.

"They're doing all they can." She spoke, her eyes boring into his.

"What if doing all they can isn't enough. Sophia doesn't even know about this yet and I don't plan on telling her until I know his chances. He has to stay alive Natalia, he has a baby and a wife that I'm sure can't live without him." Alfred spoke.

"I'll keep you updated, from what I seen, he doesn't look so good. We're not sure if he has any internal bleeding, and if he does there's a bigger risk that he could die on the table. Alfred, all you can do is pray that he will make it through." She spoke.

"Well you better make sure it's your first damn priority to save his life, Natalia." He spoke looking her in the eyes as he turned his back to her and walked away.
