Chapter 5

New York, General POV

"Guys, I have to work with Charlie Gardener!" Riley exclaimed.

"I'm sorry, I'm lost. What's wrong with Charlie again?" Gabe asked.

"They used to have a 'thing'," Lucas explained.

"And it didn't work out, it's awkward now," Smackle finished off.

"Smackle!" Riley exclaimed.

"Did I say something wrong?" Smackle wondered.

"It doesn't matter, all that matters is that it's gonna be weird between Charlie and I," Riley concluded.

"So Riley, when do you wanna work on our project?" Charlie asked, surprising them all.

"Speak of the dark food cake," Maya muttered under her breath.

"Dark Food cake?" Gabe questioned with a smirk on his face.

"Yeah, I'm not allowed to cuss, okay?"

Gabe laughed, Maya elbowed him in the gut.

"Anyways, Riley where do you wanna work on this project after school?" Charlie repeated his question.

"We call Topangas!" Smackle and Farkle called at the same time.

"We'll share," They agreed.

"Well, I guess that leaves my house?" Riley answered his question.

"Hey, what about us?" Maya asked.

"Yeah, my life's still in boxes," Gabe added.

"And we can't go to my place either, because..Well you guys know."

"Actually I don't know," Gabe chimed in.

"Well, you don't need to," Maya retorted.

"Feisty."

Maya rolled her eyes, then grabbed Gabe by the collar of his shirt.

"You don't wanna mess with me," She warned.

He smirked, "You're talking to the wrong person like that. Like I said, I was the rebel of all my old schools, Hart."

She didn't let go.

"Is that a challenge?"

"Maybe so."

"Can you just give up already?"

"Why? Isn't this more fun?"

"Sarcasm!" Smackle called out.

"How about we both give up at the same time?" Maya offered.

"Nah, I'm gonna win this," Gabe replied.

"Oh, you're on."

"I thought you said you wanted to give up at the same time."

"Not anymore."

"Guys, as fun as this is, we have to go to Math," Riley pointed out.

Maya let go of his shirt, and said, "We're not finished."

"Oh, I believe it's only just begun," Gabe responded.
