After agreeing to go to the stupid drama-play-thing, I carry on with my usual Friday schedule. I walk through the empty corridor, there was still half an hour before teenager bulls are released from their classes. Just enough time to do what I want and get to my hiding place in time. I go through the back door out to the field but take a sharp left to the outhouse used by the janitor. Behind it, a small oak where Jack and other skippers sat away from the eyes of the teachers. Jack was standing against the tree's truck with head down looking at one of his iPhones, yes one of. I like Jack, in a friendly 'we fill yourselves with the same poisons' so we understand each other sort of way, not that I would tell him.

As I got nearer, he notices me and smiles crookedly as he pocketed his phone. "Hi" he says, I don't reply as I stop in front of him "double usual order" in a even tone with emotionless face to be my normal rude self.

"Usual payment"  he matches my expression and tone. I take the money out my shorts; handing over him as he passes a small folded plastic bag into my other hand, after the exchange I zipped it away in my bag and nod to thank him.

Instead turning 180° and walking straight away. I sat down next to him which obviously took him by surprise as his pupils grow in size and his lips parted a fraction. It was a reasonable response, never had I sat with him nor had a conversation other than our usual me buy/he sell. In fact, I haven't had a friendly conversation with anyone my age for a long while. Now Jack got over his shock, he tries to act natural.

"No plans today?" he said with fake uninterested tone to cover his early pause.

"No" I deadpanned.

He smiles little and says "What a shame" his smile getting bigger. I know that smile; I've seen it too many times. I used to enjoy having them directed towards me as well as the looks of envy from girls who couldn't get as many of those smiles as me. This is where my inner friendliness for Jack stops. Why is it that every guy wanted to get in your pants? I guess people do see me as petty but they are wrong. They should all stay away from me now.

"No Jack, I know what you're going to ask and no, I'm not going anywhere alone with you" His face falls but I ignore him and carefully taking out my head phones so Jack could not see what they were attached. My cheap old MP3 player. If Jack had seen it, he would have probably either made fun of me for it and told everyone else or worse give me a shiny new phone! to persuade/subtle blackmail me into going out with him.
