It Doesn't Work That Way Chapter 5

Start from the beginning

"For saying those rude things to me and then kicking me out of your house." He said like I should have already known that.

"Are you kidding me?! You totally deserved every word I said to you. There is no way I'm going to apologize to you for that! You're such an ass!" I said finally able to pull away from him and walk away.

An hour later I was outside leaning against the deck rails. This party sucked. I had been here for over an hour and Mike had yet to spend any time with me. I was holding a bottle of water wondering if it was safe to drink when I heard someone call my name.

"Hey Ro, what's wrong?" Stella asked holding a red plastic solo cup.

"Don't tell me you actually drank that. Did you?"

"No it's just so no one asks me if I want a drink. You didn't answer my question."

"That's smart. I'm an idiot."

"What? Why?"

"For coming here. I should have cancelled and gone home."

"OK then let's find Mike and tell him we're leaving. We can go pick up Maya and sleepover at your house."

"That sounds good let's go. Mike said he was going to go play beer pong the last time I saw him." We headed inside toward the dining room which had been turned into the beer pong room and as per usual it was overflowing with people. I saw Mike and walked towards him. "Hey Mike."

"Hey babe." He said turning around and gave me a sloppy kiss on the lips. There was a chorus of shouts and 'get a rooms'. I pushed him away. He smelled like alcohol. He'd been drinking, a lot. I shook my head this was not good.

"I'm gonna leave. I have a headache. I'll call you tomorrow."

"Aw don't leave you can be my good luck charm." He said gesturing to the beer pong.

"I'm sorry my head really hurts."

"Alright call me tomorrow. Feel better." I was shocked. He must have not been as drunk as I thought. He kissed my forehead and returned to the game. I grabbed Stella who was drooling over a guy that had just taken his shirt off. I have to admit he did look good, but I had to get out of here. We walked into the living room. I felt someone grab my arm and spin me around. It was Sean. Crap.

"Leaving?" He said with a smirk.

"Yes can you please let go of my arm."

"How polite. Yet you won't say sorry."

"I only say sorry to those who deserve it."

"And I don't? Your words hurt Ro." He said putting his hand not holding my arm to his chest. He was holding a beer bottle. Great a drunk Sean this can't get any better.

"Sean please let go of my arm. I don't want to get into it right now."

"I'm sorry. See I can say it!"

"You couldn't when I actually needed to hear it."

"What? I just said sorry."

"Well good for you! What a gentleman you turned out to be. Because two years ago you could have fooled me."

"I am a gentleman aren't I."

"No Sean you aren't. Gentlemen don't treat girls the way you treated me. And I'm done with it. I'm tired of you having this hold over me. You're not worth my time. You could have been but you blew it."

"Why do you hate me?"

"Seriously?!? You put me through hell!" I yelled. By this time the music had died down and everyone was watching us. "I liked you a lot. And you knew it too. Yet you still did what you did. I live with the regret of saying yes to you every day. It kills me! I see you with other girls and I wonder if you do to them what you did to me. Then I see them smiling and following you around like lost puppies, and I know you don't. So why? Why did you do it Sean? Why me? What did I do to deserve it?" I stared at him waiting for an answer I knew I would never get. I waited another second before saying "You know what, you can go to hell." He let go of me and I walked outside with Stella following.
