Thirty Four. Scarlett

Start from the beginning

"How's Mandy?" I ask as we round the corner to our hotel.
"Good. Her and Brady are driving each other crazy." He laughs.
"They are totally going to fuck." I laugh.
"Going to? They probably have been since day one on the road!" He says and we laugh harder.
"They are good for each other. She takes him out of his comfort zone, and he gives her some semblance of safety."
"They kind of work." He smiles.

We enter into our room and Cooper sits on the couch eating the pasta we got him.
"How are you feeling?" I ask.
"I'm okay. Thanks for the food." He says.
"No problem. Did you take the Tylenol I set next to the bed?" I ask.
"Yes, thank you." He smiles. "I'm sorry for my behavior." He says setting the food down.
"What? You're sorry! Cooper Shay is fucking human? What the actual fuck!" Luke says dramatically.
"Funny." Cooper smiles and shakes his head.
"It's okay. You didn't lose control. You're allowed mistakes like the rest of us." Luke says patting his shoulder.
"Thanks." Cooper nods.
"Think you'll be able to sleep tonight?" I ask.
"I'll try. I'm still tired and I'm still a little drunk." He smiles.
"Just no barfing in our bed." Luke laughs.
"I don't throw up after drinking." Cooper smiles.
"Good. I don't handle vomit well. Blood, guts? Cool. Vomit... no."
"Coming from the guy who's about to be a dad." I tease but I start feeling nauseous.
"Baby vomit is different than grown people vomit. The smell, the quantity..."
I take in his words and I feel my stomach turn.
I run to the bathroom just in time to puke. Cooper holds my hair back as I empty my stomach.
When I'm done I frown.
"Fuck you, Luke." I say as I wash my mouth out and brush my teeth.
"I'm sorry!" He laughs.
"You're an asshole." I glare.
"I didn't realize you were so sensitive to puke talk." He says and I frown.
"Well you said it like twenty times and I thought about it and lost my dinner. Gross." I pout but I turn and look at Cooper. "Thank you for being a gentleman." I smile.
"Always." He smiles and kisses the top of my head.
My body hurts from puking so I take a Tylenol and lie down. Cooper curls up next to me while Luke gets ready for bed. "You okay?" He asks.
"Yes. I'm a wuss, I know." I smile.
"No you're not." He smiles.
"I feel like one." I smile.
"You're usually not very sensitive. What'd you eat for dinner?"
"Some seafood pasta." I say and realize I couldn't finish it. "Maybe it wasn't good. Everyone else had steak or chicken." I shrug.
"I'm sorry. Hopefully you feel better tomorrow." He says.
"I hope so." I say and smile against his warm chest.
Suddenly exhausted, I fall quickly to sleep.

Cooper shifts out from under me and I frown. "Gotta work, baby."
"If you must." I smile as he kisses me softly before departing the bedroom.
"Come here pukey." Luke laughs as he pulls me into him.
"I'm still mad at you." I pout.
"I'm sorry. Really, I am. You're just not usually so..."
"Sensitive. I know. It's okay." I smile and close my eyes.
Sleep finds me again quickly.

When I wake up, I smell bacon and coffee and can't get out of bed fast enough.
"Hungry?" Luke laughs.
"Yes. Someone helped me lose my dinner." I tease.
"Fair enough." He chuckles.
We walk into the living room and there's so much food, I smile at Cooper.
"Are you hungry or are you worried I'm hungry?" I laugh.
"A little of both." He laughs as he pulls a chair at the table out for me to sit in.
"Can we sit outside?" I ask as I realize how soon we are leaving.
"Of course." He smiles and helps me carry some food to the table on the balcony.
I breathe in the fresh air as waves crash down below.
I drink some coffee and orange juice as I eat my waffles. And eggs. And bacon. And fruit.
The guys look at me and laugh. "I threw up everything I ate yesterday. I'm starving. Don't judge me!" I laugh as I steal a bacon from Luke's plate and head inside.
"Savage!" He laughs.
I take a warm shower and get ready for the day. We are supposed to have dinner with everyone tonight since Luke's family leaves in the morning.
When I emerge from the shower, his family is in the living room. Luckily I dressed in the bathroom.
"Hey, Scar." Lexie says.
"Hey." I smile. "How's your morning?" I ask sitting in the chair across from them.
"Good. Sad we are already leaving tomorrow." She says.
"Well hopefully you'll be stateside soon, and we can visit each other all the time." I tell her.
"I would love that." She smiles and hugs me.
"Me, too."
