Deborah's team got the short straw. They had to clear the top-floor offices. She took point, stunner in one hand, boot gun in the other. The palatial Executive Suite of Midas Holdings was deserted. All they found were empty rooms. The digital marble echoed with their simulated footfalls. Deborah shivered, forgetting she was in an Arizona office park.
She went to a filing cabinet and opened it. It was completely empty. It should have held Midas's financial data, but there was nothing to link to. Deborah stared into a void.
The rest of the squad continued into the office.
