Chapter 20: The Battle

KAT'S POV:

I caught the sword that Peter tossed me with ease.

As much as I was frightened, I knew he was right.

It would do me no good to sit in this tent and wait to be kidnapped.

I had to go out there in fight!

But as I stood, I realized that my legs were still unstable.

Then I thought about it.

"My legs shouldn't be hurting! I have magic, for goodness sake! I learned how to Flash! I turned a flower to ash in my palm! I created a wind storm! I conjured a wave to save a mermaid! I brought my dead brother BACK TO LIFE! I healed myself this much, and I know I can do it the rest!"

Once I finished my little pep talk to myself, my body seemed to listen to my command.

Instantly, I felt a dull buzzing in my legs that soon spread to my entire body.

It didn't hurt, like last time, but instead felt good.

Like a cocoon of protection, power, that would be by my side throughout this fight.

The hair at my face was floating weightlessly around my head and seemed to be glowing a white color.

My arms and legs gave off a blue sparkle and I felt exhilarated.

Grasping my sword firmly, I ran out of the tent and into the madness.

Already their were bodies laying on the floor.

All pirates, no Boys.

Thank goodness.

I'm not even two steps out of the tent before I hear.

"There she is! Grab her!" from a filthy pirate nearby.

Three men (rather large, if I may add) charged me at the same time.

At first, I was frozen with fear.

Unable to move my feet or lift my hand.

But soon instinct took over, and my sword collided with one of the men.

A cling above my head, a clang near my hip.

The pirate had a messy beard on his face and kept his eyes on mine the entire fight.

With the little magic I was able to harness, I created a barrier that kept the other two pirates out while I fought with this one.

The others were so amazed by my abilities that they lost focus and were easily taken down by some Lost Boys.

But the pirate in front of me was different.

He kept his attention on me, and only me.

Determined to make me fail.

I scrapped his cheek with my weapon and left a nasty cut.

He stepped back for a moment to wipe it off, giving me a chance to breathe.

But before I even took a breath, he lunged at me. And I lunged back.

Nailing my sword right into his stomach.

His eyes went wide and he looked down at where my sword had entered his body.

I used that opportunity to twist it in further, then rip it out.

He fell to the floor instantly, and I let my barrier drop.

Peter ran by my side and looked at the pirate on the ground.
