Lord Death had questioned himself constantly before accepting the girl into the Academy. Alice Mist. The daughter of blood-thirsty assassins. Obviously he had no choice but to put an end to them after they managed to creep their way near Shibusen, but Alice was spared since she was merely an infant, like Black Star.

After she was reported missing three days after the incident, the entire staff population of the academy searched frantically for years until someone found a body that resembled what she would have looked like at that age. She was dead. Case closed. Everyone believed it, too, until she showed up out of nowhere and requested to be a student at the school. She didn't give them a chance to ask any questions, and she didn't tell them any information about where she had disappeared to or what she was doing. She didn't even tell them if she had a meister.

But Death gave everyone an equal chance.

Kid sped through the hallway, knocking into people left and right. He didn't know why he felt so strongly about this one girls soul, but he knew it had to be a good reason. He didn't even notice the rest of his friends following him.

Alice.

She was strange. Imperfect. Unbalanced. That's what her soul spoke to him. It was his job to fix it, of course. To make the world balanced. She wouldn't be easy to find and he knew it.

Alice.

Her name meant "nobility" in almost every language. Funny, she didn't seem like that type of person. He had to find her. It was getting irritating. His fulvous irises darted around, trying to find some clue.

Alice.

He saw it. A flash of blonde hair near the end of the hallway. He sped up, breaking into a run. She noticed, and her small figure pulled a black hood over her face and took off.

"Stop," Kid ordered, hoping that his respectable reputation would be at his advantage. Sadly, it did nothing. The girl was fast. Faster than everyone Kid knew except for maybe Black Star. He was suprised a girl with such a neat build could move so quickly. In this case, he sprinted rapidly. His feet not even touching the ground. He continued to chase and catch up to her until they ended up outside of the school, in one of the grassy areas students used for training.

"Don't move or I'll kill you,"

She had stopped while Kid had kept running. He should have known she'd pull a trick like that. He planted his feet on the ground, not budging-- even though she had a knife at his throat. Well, since she was a weapon it was more like her hand. Her hood had flown off of her head, and he could now see her platinum hair whisping around her face like light streamers. Fawn eyes and winged eyelashes snapped open, with her thin eyebrows furrowing. Her skin was pale and her cheekbones were prominant, and Kid could tell that she had dimpled cheeks.

"Where is your meister?" Kid asked, not flinching. Alice's jaw clenched, and her thin lips became pursed.

"I am not going to answer that." She hissed sharply. Kid didn't move. Her slender legs bent a little more, as if she was going to drive the knife into his throat. Still, the reaper stood there like nothing was wrong. Despite her attractivness, she was feirce. Kid couldn't let her use her looks for her own benefit.

"Why not?" He asked, raising his arm up a little. She put the knife so that the tip was pressed against him just a little, but not enough to break the skin.

"I will kill you. Don't you dare move." She warned, not one flash of bluff on her striking face. Kid smirked and then seized her shoulder, knowing what would come next.

She quickly sliced across his neck, staring straight into his determined eyes. It was a fatal blow, and would easily kill him. Not a drop of guilt lined her eyes. Kid, who still had his famous smirk dressing his pale face, winced and dropped to his knees. She converted her knife back to her hand and stared at the boy collapsed at her feet.
