OVER THE SKY AND ACROSS THE STARS

Every day across the sky,
She would stare out the window and dream.
Somewhere across the clouds,
There's an orb of light ready to be touched.

A wind so vigorous and chaotic whisked her away across the great blue sea like a damsel in the arms of the hero.
She grappled and she shrieked until her throat ran dry,
But she held quick and never let go.

Across the great sea of stars,
Amidst dust and all that was lost,
Shone the moon, resting atop clusters of bright dots, as bright as the sun.

In her eyes shone the light of the night sky,
A thousand lights,
And beating quasars,
But she marveled and gawked at the moon's incongruity against the stark nights.

She flew and she chased across all that is space to find the source.
Every night, spent tracking the
movements, dodging comets and flying fire.
Every night, spent staring at the face on the moon,
Every night, spent wondering the mysteries it held.

The day came she reached its surface;
Her face split,
Her lips spread,
And the moon was darker than a faceless night.

And for once, in her eyes,
The stars shone brighter.
