Hell Comes From Nothing

I starred at my history textbook and scratched down another boring date with more dead guys names onto an almost completely filled piece of paper. It was only second period and my energy was already failing me. I was trying to get lost in thought but I wasn't able to. I sighed and closed my text book. It closed with a loud BOOM and all the kids looked at me, but quickly looked away seeing as there was nothing worth watching. I banged my head on my book and looked out the window, we were on the second story so all I could really see was the trees and the sky and faintly far off in the distance I could see the bay. The school was okay it had stupid teachers though. There wasn't much bullying I was the only case I knew of but that was just because I was different and had stuff that was wrong with me. Like stuff that just wasn't right. But we will get into that later!

I suppose that once I grow up and get a job I will be able to leave this run down town. But for now I was stuck. There was an invisible chain that held me to my desk and nothing could break them except good grades. I was slowly drowning in standards and the weight of society but I suppose we all were. I sighed and closed my eyes waiting for the period to be over. Thinking over my life and my choices that I have made.

"Staff and students" the speakers said roaring to life. "this is not a drill there are intruders in the school I repeat this is not a drill!" the speakers cut off abruptly and everyone looked at each other. But soon after it came back to life this time it wasn't Mr. Peters voice it was much deeper, much darker. " Hello, I am your over-viewer  and we are going to play a little per-say... game?" He chuckled and then continued. "the rules are simply survive and gain freedom, and well the other outcome is death. You may kill each other you may hurt my team members but if you try to leave you will be gunned down like the swine you are. And don't worry about calling anyone for help they already know.... In a few minutes we will be calling some names one by one. If your name is called you have two choices, one kill yourself  or  come to the auditorium where we are holding separate...auditions. Once we find our ten candidates we will leave, But until then let chaos reign" by the end I had sat up. As soon as he finished I waited to see how everyone would react but no one said anything. Our teacher had left a while ago and probably wasn't coming back. So we were at the liberty of our choices.

I was getting pissed at the pure site of my fellow pupil not doing anything so I got up and walked over to the window. I starred at the trees that were closest to our window and spotted something. Before I could react I heard a shatter as a bullet pierced the window and flew past my head. I heard a scream from behind me and found Emily dead on the floor. She had  been shot through the head. I quickly spun around and shut all the blinds to make sure the man couldn't see in. My heart was beating at a million miles per hour and I was very scared. From what I could see another kid in my class who was a life guard or something was trying to calm everyone down as Emily's blood seeped across the floor clamming more and more for herself. She had been nice but now she was no different from everyone else who had died.

Some kids decide to rock themselves some got cocky, others were crying, one even puked on the floor and to be honest I was close to doing so myself. There is a huge difference from killing an animal and killing a human. Animals don't go to waist at least when my dad and I hunted but this was evil this was murder!!

"Guys!!" Anthony whispered yelled "there is someone coming down the hallway" he looked again. "and I think they have a gun!!" his eyes were widened in fear. "Everyone silent" the whole class did as he said only out of fear. Some held their friends in their chest to muffle the crying noise others held their breath. Me, I quickly got up and walked to where Anthony was I was standing next to him and he had already closed the door and had his ear firmly pressed against the cold wood. "if he try's to open the door help me hold it close" he whispered to me.

"no I was going to welcome him in with freshly baked cookies" I whispered sarcastically.

"smart-ass" I mumbled a 'you know it' at him and he just smirked. We began listening again and what I could hear was singing?

"La-laddadum let blood flow like rain laladadee I hope I get to murder somebody. I know they are there and I can hear them breath like cattle waiting for my knife I fucking see" holy shit this guy was nuts. I glanced out the small window in the door and I saw him look me directly in the eyes. I wanted to move away but I couldn't. He was so different he had leathery white skin, raven black hair no eyelids and a smile cut into his face almost like the Jokers from bat man but worse and more...fresh. He was wearing a white sweater that was covered in blood and he had black pants on. In his hand he carried a huge knife that looked like it had killed somebody. He starred at me and smirked but then mouthed the words 'YOUR' and 'MINE'. My eyes opened further then they were before and I couldn't say anything.

"Sarah Ross-Wood" The speaker said booming to life and scaring the crap out of me and apparently others as someone screamed. I turned to glare at the person but I could tell others were already doing so. When I turned back around to look back out the small window the boy waved goodbye to me with a cheerful smile and headed into a class room across the hall.
