the problem, I think with being against the nb community, is the fact that none of us have a right to be. No one has a right to decide that other people's identities are invalid. "It doesn't make sense to me" isn't a good reason not to call a trans* non-binary (/genderqueer) person by the wrong pronouns. It doesn't have to make sense to you! It isn't your gender!
What you're really saying when you refuse to call someone by their preferred pronouns is: I don't believe that you deserve basic respect!! Understand that respect is a "yes" or "no". If I ask "Do you respect me?", and you say "yes, but..", the answer is an automatic "no". All that trans*/non-binary / genderqueer people ask for is respect, and an escape from being misgendered.
A lot of people like to say "Why are they all white, emo 13 yr olds!!"
Because of what we've been teaching them. We've been teaching them that it's okay to be themselves, and that they shouldn't stifle their identities. Not all of them are white. Not all of them are emo. Not all of them are 13. But the ones that are, shouldn't bother you, because it isn't your body or your gender.
I can understand not being used to gender orientation that isn't "she" or "he", but, it's one thing to be unexposed and a completely different thing to be disrespectful.
