Third Person P.O.V.

The clouds of Beach City seemed to have other plans for the residence. What was predicted to be a perfect sunny day was now turning out for the worst. Giant grey clouds hang low in the sky, threatening to spill hundreds of gallons of raindrops any moment. The clouds plotted, they sat and waited, never letting the Sun be seen, drizzling every now and then, teasing about letting all of the rain fall to Earth the moment you stepped outside or just come back from the salon with a new hairstyle that would be instantly ruined if any liquid touched it. However, the residence of beach city were prepared. Some didn't mind the rain at all, others had umbrella's, some had jackets or hoodies to cover their heads while they hurried to wherever they were going and then there was the fisherman Yellowtail who knew the weather like the back of his hand since he was always away at sea. He was used to things that were unexpected like the rain or waves ramming onto the boat. He had on his bright yellow rain coat and hat, wading through the developing pools on the boardwalk.

On days like this, people stayed inside, having family time or even passing the time with board games and that's what one bunch of colorful individuals were doing from over on the other side of Beach City.

Meanwhile at the barn.......

The Crystal Gems and Steven had been caught in the rain and decided that they stay at the barn for a change, passing the time with Peridot and Lapis. Peridot, who was more than welcome to have guest over, was trying to keep everyone occupied. She brought out some old board games that were hidden away deep inside the barn and lay them out.

Steven: Monopoly Man, Sugar Land, Slides and Ladders...

Steven read aloud.

Steven: I remember these games, those were good times.

He reminisced.

Pearl:  We might as well play one. Looks like we're going to be here a while.

Pearl said as she looked outside at the rain pelting against the old barn windows.

Amethyst: I can't believe we got caught in the rain, unexpected things are your thing Garnet, where were you?

Garnet: Sometimes I can't always see everything.

Garnet said calmly.

Peridot: How about we play Monopoly man. It has more pieces. I call the car!

Steven: Awwwww but that's like the coolest piece.

Steven said disappointingly as Peridot laughed in success about her great choice. Meanwhile, Steven noticed Lapis in the far corner over the barn in her favorite spot, reading one of her favorite teen magazines or at least some magazine Steven assumed she was interested in.

Steven: Hey Lapis, wanna play with us?

Lapis: No, I'm good over here.

Pearl: Do join us, you can be....um.....the thimble?

Pearl said with an awkward smiled in an attempt to get Lapis to join in the game but Lapis's mind still remained unchanged.

Steven: We'll be over here if you change your mind.

Inside, Steven really wanted last to try bonding but she seemed as distant as always, though she did have her moments when she was a team player.

Lapis's P.O.V.

I let out a low sigh. I really liked Steven and the others, I really did but sometimes I felt like I still need a bit more space right now. I couldn't say that I was happy about where I currently am. The barn is great and all and Peridot is a good barn mate but I can't help but feel like there's more out there. I know I'm welcome here but I don't feel like I can call this home. Earth is much different from home world but I know I can never go back. Being here is different but I'm happy to be here if it makes Steven happy. I owe that to him at least. Still, I've been having these doubts about being somewhere that I actually found comfortable.

Getting up from my seat and walking over to the barn window beside me. I place a hand on the cool glass, looking down slightly. The water droplets on the outside of the window bent slightly from my powers. Without even realizing it, my wings suddenly spread out and fluttered slightly. Upon noticing this, Steven called out to me.

Steven: Lapis, are yo going somewhere in the rain?

Lapis: I....I just need to take a short fly outside. I'll be back.

This was all I said before I flew up and out of the barn roof. I often took flight when the sky was like this. The rain wasn't to heavy or too light, and there was no thunder or lighting, it was perfect. As a Lapis, it was natural for me to have such a special connection with water and flying through the rain like this cleared my mind sometimes. No birds were out and I often flew with them and they followed me through the damp clouds. Flying was had always been something I day regularly but somehow, it relaxed even more right now than it did any other time. I fell like I could go anyway and so I pushed myself to see how far I can actually go. There was a certain place I never passed, which was a certain tree I could spot out since Steven assured me that there was nothing beyond the country but forest with no civilization. Still, it was wide open space for me to spread my wings, or at least I thought. Steven said there was no civilization back here, as in, no people or houses but I could have sworn I just flew past one.

I circled back to be sure and I was thinking I had just thought I saw something since I was flying so fast but that wasn't the case. There was definitely a house down there and it looked so small from all the way up here. However, I was sure it was abandoned, no lights were on and there was nothing out here. No human could possibly survive out here so far away from Beach City. I was pretty sure the house was run down and housing no one so it didn't take long for me to shrug off my find and bolt off back towards the barn.
