"How did you-"
"He wasn't exactly his bright and bubbly self."
"Bubbly?"
"Inside joke. Anyway I asked him about you and he got all pissed and started ranting about how everything bad that has happened to you was his fault, and that you should just man up and come to terms with who he is and accept what he did and move on."
"God he's such a jerk! How am I supposed to man up I'm a girl!"
"I don't know, but I've never seen him like this. He was livid. What did you two fight about? What did he do?"
"Nothing just stupid stuff. Anyway you may want to get used to it, because he's not happy about you and I. At all."
"Weird. He seemed fine with it yesterday. I was talking to him about it and he was joking about it with me saying I'd have my hands full with you and laughing. Huh anyway I gotta go. Football meeting in 5 minutes. I'll talk to you later."
"OK bye." He got out of the car and started jogging towards the weight room. Huh Sean was fine with it yesterday? Well Duh he thought it wouldn't last because I was making out with him.
*Knock Knock*
"Oh my gosh can't you people just leave me alone!" I screamed rolling down the window.
"Sorry." Amy apologized.
"No Amy I'm sorry I'm just high strung that's all."
"What happened?"
"What do you mean what happened?"
"Well you're obviously upset about something. So what happened? Spit it out, you know I'll figure it out anyway." She was right she would probably guess it.
"Sean drove me home yesterday after practice because my car wouldn't start. He came in because it was raining and it wasn't about to stop anytime soon. Well things were said we kissed. OK more like made out. And we got into a huge fight. Things were brought up, things from the past. Things that I can't yet forgive him for. It was ugly and bad and I'm dreading going to chemistry cause we're finishing our lab that we started yesterday and we're partners."
"Wow! You've got way too much drama in your life."
"Thanks for pointing that out. And that's not even all of it. I'm still going to Sean's party with Mike tonight."
"Honey you need to cancel that and stay home."
"But I can't do that to Mike."
"Yes you can. If you go you'll do something you regret."
"I have to go."
"Fine, but be careful, and stay away from Sean."
"Alright I'll try."
"OK, well I have to go. Band meeting in 3 minutes. Talk to you later." She said walking away. "Oh and if you need to leave the party early call me and I'll come pick you up."
"Alright I'll do that."
"Promise?"
"Promise." As I sat in my car I was thinking about what Amy said. Should I cancel with Mike and fake an illness? Could I do that to him? Yes I could. Then I thought about why I wanted to go to this party. Was it because I wanted to spend time with Mike or was it because of Sean? I knew it wasn't the first, but I wanted it to be. Then I thought about what Sean had said. I knew technically I hadn't cheated on Mike but if he found out it would hurt him. What made me so angry was kissing Sean felt so right. I loved the feeling of being wrapped in his arms and his lips on mine. It felt so right and yet so very wrong. I thought I was over him, I thought I was stronger than this. I sat there for what felt like forever thinking about it over and over again. Then I looked at my phone. I had 10 minutes to get to class.
I ran to my locker and shoved my books in, taking out my history book and heading towards class. I walked through the door and sat in my seat not paying attention to my surroundings.
"Rose? Why are you here so early?" Mr. Mason asked as he walked through the door. "Aren't you usually talking to your friends until 30 seconds before the bell rings?"
"Didn't feel like talking to anyone today. Too many questions." I answered back.
"Are you alright? You're being sarcastic at all."
"No, I'm not alright. I'm tired and I want everything to go back to the way it was."
"What would that be?"
"I want it back to when no guys stared at me. No girls hated me. I want to be invisible again."
"What is all of this about?"
"Never mind, it's nothing. Go correct your papers or something. I'm fine."
"Rose-" At that moment a stream of people walked in and sat down as the bell rang. Saved by the bell I thought. I looked down at my desk and zoned out for the rest of the period, thinking about nothing in particular or rather trying not to. The bell rang signalling passing time, I gathered up my stuff before Mr. Mason could try talking to me again and headed to my locker to get my chem book so I could do the chem reading during guitar. Big mistake. I should have gone to class without my textbook. As soon as I was at my locker Clarice Smith, the school gossip, ran up to me and started talking a mile a minute.
"So Rose, I heard you and Sean are in a huge fight, why? What did you do?" Did I mention she really likes Sean. Like likes him, OK more like loves him, and adores him. He slept with her freshman year and she never got the hint that it was just a hook up. I just ignored her as I opened my locker shoved my book inside, grabbed my chem book and started walking towards guitar class. "Rose?!? Are you going to answer me?! Fine walk away I hope you feel horrible about what you did!" Everyone stared as I walked down the hall.
Today was not going to be a good day. Wherever I went there were whispers, glares and the occasional threat with the eyes, the 'you are so dead' look. That one was my favorite, Sean really did have all these girls wrapped around his finger and he knew it too.
I sat down in my seat in guitar. Kendra was staring at me.
"What is it now?" I said not even looking at her.
"You really like causing drama don't you?" She said back in a completely serious tone.
"Oh yes, I just love that drama. I just can't get enough of it!" I said every word dripping in sarcasm.
"Well there's no need to be all sarcastic. You also like sarcasm too much."
"No such thing."
"I'm only saying drama seems to follow you."
"I'm sorry I just don't know what to do any more."
"You could move out to the middle of nowhere."
"And take my brother away from his friends, football, and school? I don't think so. I'm not going to do that to him. He's already going to be sad because our dad is going to miss his first high school game."
"That was my only idea sorry. Anyway what happened with you and Sean. It sounds like you two are in a fight."
"Since when do you listen to gossip? And we're not in a fight. To be in a fight you actually have to be speaking."
"What about your bet? Is it still going?"
"How do you know about that?"
"Honey everyone knows."
"MY GOD! Is my life just an open book?! How the hell does everyone know?!?"
"Word gets around fast. Oh, by the way all the girls want you to win so Sean is free and the guys too so you're free, but some of them want you to lose like his close circle of friends, so good luck."
"I hate this school."
"My idea of moving out to the middle of nowhere is looking pretty darn good right about now isn't it." She said smiling.
"Uh huh." I grumbled crossing my arms over my chest.
